We consider the people of Ireland jolly welcoming people. The Irish we not only quick to share about their country but interested in our culture as well during our travels there. Having them in our heart we have already shared a bit about the country and Saint Patrick’s Day. Today we delve a bit more in its folklore. What do you know about the Leprechauns? I called Neave in Dublin and asked her. To thank her, I have named my refreshing go to green beverage ” Pot of Gold Lemonade “. Two reasons for that: lemonade is her favorite drink and it has in it an ingredient that make this lemonade a jack pot for me! Are you ready for a Pot of Gold Lemonade To Celebrate Irish Folklore The recipe is below for you :-). But back the the Leprechauns.
Leprechauns are characters that come Irish folklore. Think of them as fairies of sorts. These fairies are actually men dressed with green hats, coats and nickers – the pants traditionally used for golf. The stories of Leprechauns tell us that they spend all their days making shoes. They hide all of their coins in pots of gold at the end of the rainbow. It seems the whole story begun when someone told about King Fergus Mac fell asleep at a beach. When he woke, we was being dragged by 3 leprechauns to the water. He then caputred them, and they grant him 3 wishes in return for their release. So, if we go by the legend, if you capture a leprechaun, you can demand his treasure. Most likely they will barter that with you for 3 wishes. Choose wisely and be careful. Leprechauns are known for being mischievous and can be very tricky! Because my chances of capturing a Leprechaun on this side of the Atlantic are slim, let’s indulge in our refreshing Pot of Gold Lemonade.
While encountering a Leprechauns gives the possibility of your wishes becoming a reality, its seems Leprechaun stories are in place to keep us straight and honest. It is said their fable is shared with us because it is their way of offering a lesson: to warn us about the idea of getting rich quickly and easily, or taking what is not rightfully ours. I thought it was quite refreshing to hear trickster Leprechauns are actually looking out for us! Cheers to our Irish fairy friends with a Pot of Gold lemonade!
