Kids do not come with a manual. It will be too late in the game when a new parent realizes this :-). Despite all of our preparations for our bundle of joy, we always fear it is not enough. In addition, everyone will be more than willing to share with your their child-rearing wisdom. It can become a bit much. As a matter of fact, advice and caring for your little treasure when you are clueless can be overwhelming. To keep newbies cool, chill and zen I recommend 4 Classes All New Parents Should Take.
4 Classes All New Parents Should Take
My one recommendation is: listen to the pediatrician. Case and point, this list of classes all new parents should take. It has been put together by those who know children’s health. Your fears, concerns, and things you have never thought off will soon turn into self-assurance and peace of mind. Here is the list of classes:
-
New Parent:
This free one hour class focusses on preparing for the arrival of baby. I will be a general overview of your choices like early development, vaccines, plus more routine things like changing diapers or feeding.
-
CPR & First Aid:
I would make this class a requirement for all family members, caregivers, and potential babysitters. It is free, so why not ensure everyone in baby’s life learns the basic skills to properly react in an emergency? Hopefully, you will never have to use the skills you learn in this class. Nevertheless, you are already prepping for baby’s arrival. So, do get the knowledge on how to act during an infant/toddler emergency.
-
Breastfeeding:
No, it is not as instinctive as you might think it is for all moms and babies. Regardless if you are a new parent or not. Things like what to expect on baby’s first day of life, latching on, feeding positions for baby, and even how milk is produced will be covered in this free class. Get to know what to expect. Believe me, it will help you keep your sanity.
-
Car Seat Safety:
You researched and got the best car seat you could find for your infant. Now, get familiar with how to properly install it and use it. Not every car seat installs the same. Additionally, you will understand it all about rear and front facing seating. I felt very accomplished after attending this class despite having easy and clear instructions in the car seat box.
Once you have taken these free classes at Pediatric Associates, you will be able to enjoy free pre-natal yoga classes! They are designed for all pregnancy stages. You will be able to build strength and stamina with them. Not to mention, get in all that cool and chill that all pregnant women should have. Don’t stop at getting all that zen for you moms, take the free infant massage class as well!
Trusting the Experts
With over 60 years experience taking care of children from zero to 21, there is so much more at Pediatric Associates than free classes and tons of resources. Nothing beats the peace of mind that experts are caring for your little ones. It is priceless to count on experts that go beyond the made appointment to ensure the family’s well-being. Personally, I love that they offer so much for new expectant parents.
What classes did you take as an expectant parent? Which of these classes would you start with?

As a mother of two I would definitely agree on taking all these classes. I took a Bradley class to learn about child birth and care. Breastfeeding was way more complicated than I thought. Being in the school system it’s mandated to take CPR and I’m glad I did because two of my boys have choked on food I was able to save them from. I see way to many parents using carseats wrong.

I learned about all of those before I ever left the hospital with my baby. They are important to learn 🙂

My baby was in NIDU for the first few weeks of his life, so we had to take these classes before we could leave. I am honestly glad that I did, because I feel like a more prepared mother now.

I think that parents should definitely learn first aid as you never know what can happen. It is always best to be equipped with essential skills and be prepared.

This is wonderful they have classses for new moms. I see my niece is in need of something like this. She seems afraid to stay with her newborn alone and jus won’t admit it.

I am not a parent but I am interested in attending a CPR and First Aid class. It is essential for everyone. I have nephews and I would like to equip myself properly in case of an emergency.

Taking classes to help with your baby is always a good thing. I know that we didn’t know about a lot prior to getting pregnant . And so it would have been helpful to know about car seat safety among a whole host of things.
