It is time to get the lunch packing routine – important to stream the prep time and get to the children to school on time, plus you don’t want to spend much time in the afternoons when you need to probably focus on homework, projects or the after-school practices. 4 Grab and Go Back to School Lunch Tips
I don’t know about you but I linger in summer mode for a bit longer than I should. Shaking up to plunge into the back to school routine usually found me scrambling for back to school lunches that would just be grab pack and go! I can now semi- keep my summer mindset with these four tips will put you on the path to smooth sailing in the lunch department in no time!
Designate a space for school lunches items:
This way there is no second guessing where that string cheese finally got put away. Don’t have an empty drawer? No worries, bins, and baskets can do the trick just as well. Make sure everything in this section is ready to go. Packaged sandwiches, individual cheese packs or Yoplait yogurt – available at Walmart.
Have a running list of items the kids love having at lunch:
Write it all down: celery, carrot, cheese, Yoplait yogurt, grapes. Update it as the kids’ preferences change throughout the year, and put a star next to the favorites. It will make your shopping easier with no second-guessing.
Involve the kids:
Because so many of the items we like are not pre-packaged ready to go, some work needs to be done. I like rounding up the kids to prep berries or carrots in bags. Then those prepped items can go in your designated fridge drawer ready to grab, pack and go!
On Friday night make a quick inventory of what depleted the week before and replenish over the weekend. Besides the flavor and all the goodness of Yoplait yogurt, I will never give it up because it’s new multipack packaging helps me see how many I have left at a glance! The new open top to easily see when you need to stock u also lets the kids choose their flavor in a jiffy. Genius!
