I can’t believe how fast time is sneaking up on me! Before we know it the holiday season will be upon us and in full swing. Foods and the kitchen become the grand central station at home this time of year. With all the hustle and bustle that is to come, I want to be ready. The good news is that we are in time to get our kitchen for the festive season. How? With these simple 7 Tips to Prep The Kitchen For the Holidays.
7 Tips to Prep The Kitchen For the Holidays
If you are planning on hosting friends and family, regardless if you are having a little shindig, a full fledge mega cool event or anything in between, getting your kitchen ready will almost guarantee chill, zen and smooth entertaining. A few easy steps will go a long way.
-
Declutter your countertops
You are going to appreciate the extra room for preparing, cooking and arranging food once the mad dash in the kitchen begins.
-
Keep handy specialized cookware and utensils
It is not every week that I use a mixer to bake or a kitchen syringe to deeply season a turkey or ham. Bring all the kitchen gadgets that you use for your happy holiday cooking to the forefront of your drawers and cupboards. It will save time from finding items and make cooking easier.
-
Prepare linens, dishes, and silverware
All my holidays get their own dishes. They are put away clean, but for a whole year they have been collecting dust. Time to wash them. Same with the silverware. Linens might need to be iron.
-
Clean out pantry and fridge
Doing so will make room for the seasonal ingredients you will purchase or the bulk items you might be getting to feed your crowds.
-
Stock up on supplies
From garbage bags, to napkins and barware, get as much as you can ready so you don’t interrupt your cooking or entertaining because you run out of aluminum foil 🙂
-
Stock up on ingredients
Rebounding on number 5, think about your favorite cooking ingredients of the season so you have everything in place. Cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon….
-
Look closely at your appliances
The holiday entertaining season is not the time for one of them to break down and leave you out cold. Is it time to change them? Do they need a thorough cleaning?
Peace of Mind and Cool Looks
Having a nice looking kitchen makes me happy, and all smiles when my guests come in asking if they can help with anything. This year I am very excited that GE has their efficient and good looking appliances readily available at Best Buy in time for me to update for the holidays. That means that I can count on Best Buy’s expertise to find the right appliance for me at the best possible price. Personally, I love the sleek modern lines of GE appliances and the special features that make my cooking a breeze.
Take for example the GE Gas Range that offers a beautiful edge-to-edge cooktop. This means I get a larger cooking surface and extra room for pots and pans of all sizes. Perfect for our famous braized rosemary caramelized pork All Saint’s Day recipe! Remember we talked about decluttering? The GE fridge helps me put away my coffee maker. Yes! It offers the convenience of a Keurig Kcup on the French Door. Beyond cool don’t you agree?
Right now, if you purchase 4 or more eligible GE Profile™ or select GE® appliances you could get a GE Appliances (GEA) Visa prepaid card valued up to $1200*! ( depending on the number of appliances purchased and whether any are BONUS models)
Do you have a favorite holiday recipe? What is it?

I like to do a big cleanup of my kitchen before the holidays. It is amazing what you can find at the back of the cupboards. I like everything to be organized before I start all my holiday baking.

It’s almost hard to believe the holidays are so close already! We have some family coming next month so I’ll be getting prepared soon! As for favorite recipe, I’m a fan of sweet potato casserole with a brown sugar/pecan topping! I also make extra mashed potatoes so I can make potato pancakes with leftovers. Yummy!

I love tip #5 to take an inventory of the necessities before you go shopping so you don’t run out. #4 made me laugh because my husband is totally annoyed that we have so many condiments, olives and specialty foods crowding the fridge. I should clean them out and make him happy while making room for real food.
