This is a sponsored post with Mums the Word Network and Doctor on Demand All opinions are my own.
When you are home sick in bed the last thing you want to do is get move an inch. Even if that means going to visit a doctor to get better. Most times we get doctor appointments and have to wait from a couple of days to a few months to see the doctor. So I am extremely happy with a new app that is a great alternative to visiting an Urgent Care or waiting impatiently for that appointment. It is called Doctor on Demand, Medical Answers When You Want Them!
Doctor on Demand connects you directly with a board certified practitioner in your state from the convenience of your own smartphone, tablet or computer. It is a free download. If you have webcam and microphone capabilities you are ready to download this app either using and IOS compatible or Android device. I do want to emphasis that you will not be talking to students or interns.
I tried it myself. My munchkin was sick with what I thought was a cold. When the kids are sick I want a doctor right away! Our pediatrician was on holiday, so I decided to give Doctor on Demand a run for its money. Using my phone opened the app. Then I answered a few questions and in no time I was chatting up with a doctor about my little one’s condition. In under 15 minutes I got my main concerns about fever cleared, a prescription submitted to my pharmacy, and a recommendation to see a doctor to rule out the flu. A test needs to be performed to determine if the flu is present. I loved the service. For a flat fee of $40 my simple questions get answered in a jiffy.
If you are curious about Doctor on Demand, they are offering everyone their first “appointment” for free using this code: cool15. Even if you don’t have a pressing medical question, download the app and save the code in it for when you are ready to use it. I feel better traveling and having this little app handy. There is nothing like being sick far from home. At least I can get quick answers and hopefully solutions to health issues on the road.
Please do keep up with your regular doctor, and do go to the ER is you have an emergency. For a quick medical response to the measles, or that rash in the middle in the night, go ahead test out Doctor on Demand. It might save you from getting in your car, driving to the doctors, sitting in the waiting room, filling out forms and waiting some more in the little room.
Don’t forget to save that COOL 15 code when you download the app for free.

That sounds mighty convenient. I would totally use this service.

I think that this would be a great service for those who are housebound, or are not able to drive. I would personally prefer to see a medical professional face to face, but not everyone can do this for various reasons- so having a service like this around is fantastic!

What a neat idea and so much better than turning to Doctor Google! It can be scary what that brings up. x

I love this plan! I am so glad we have finally gotten to the point of not having to get out of the house when it is a simple illness that might need simple meds.

Wow! So remarkable what tech has helped us with – and the convenience enabled apps – thank you for your share!

This is such a great idea. Communicating with a doctor is always a better idea then doing your own research.

I’d use this if I didn’t want to go to the doctor or my doctor was booked. Why not, as long as you’re truthful with your reporting of your symptoms it should work.
Tough Cookie Mommy says
I love the idea of having access to the doctor this way. It is great to get treatment without even having to leave the house.
Carmen Perez (listen2mama) says
Wow, what will they come up with next? This is like going back to the times when doctors made house calls!
Annie says
That is so cool! You get to basically FaceTime with a doc from the convenience of your home, awesome 🙂

I have heard about this and I think it is a great idea. I know that it can only be used for certain illnesses and conditions but I think it will be helpful to any.
Mama to 5 BLessings says
I so need this! As a mom to 5 little ones it is hard to get to the doctors – this would be a great option!

I see many potential pros. Anonymity is a big one. If you’re embarrassed to tell your own Dr., this could really help. Silly, I know, but I’m sure that happens more than we think. It’d be good for colds too, for sure (and not having to trek a child with just a cold or flu to the Dr to get a Drs excuse).

This seems pretty cool. Especially when a migraine plagues me and I physically can’t get to the dr. office for help.

I have heard about this. It’s such a fantastic idea, and much better than google!

This is really a great idea! I always hated dragging my kids out when they were sick. I didn’t want them to expose other kids in the doctor’s office or be exposed to other germs. This is a great solution!
