As we are Getting Our Family Summer Travel Bucket List Ready , the kids started teasing me about a story that marked one of the highlights of our recent long weekend escape to Bath Tub Beach near Stuart, Florida. It went something like this:
Me: “I got a mini crab! Come see it, come hold it!
Munchkin 1: ” No mom, its squirming”
Munchkin 2: “If I hold it it’s going to get me with its claws!”
Me: “No, it woooooooo ayyyyyyyyy! ouch!!!!! it got me!!!!” Intuitively, I threw the poor crab far. Oh well, there went my appetizer… just teasing, my appetizers need to be bigger!
I was jumping up and down screaming and sucking at my pinched finger. Yes, the kids were right, the crab got me. The joke is on me! Lucky for me it was a small crab, and its claws were more like tweezers. It pinched a bit, but nothing major. My adrenalin was going. We were all laughing hard. It was a good lesson on how animals protect themselves, and how crabs pinch if you don’t hold them correctly 🙂
The other highlight that day was a live spectacle offered by Pelican feeding time a few feet away from us. It was mesmerizing, breathtaking and exciting all at once. You know I did take full advantage to talk about feeding habits, and how rich the ocean is.
Wow, just one day took helped us cross out major items from our Family Summer Travel Bucket List.
Sophisticated, foodie, adventurous, luxurious, easy, spur of the moment, weekend escape, accessible, on a budget, you know that no matter how, we love traveling. Bigger than our love for traveling is our love for traveling with our munchkins! You have been reading us, and you know we love to travel with the kids not only because of those unforgettable learning experiences, and how we always come back with an “Awe” moment of places, people, food or smells, but also because of the bonding memorable experiences we share together I know, we have told you repeatedly how we believe whole-heartedly that travel is not only about creating lifetime memories as a family. For us it is one of the best educational experiences that do bring people together via understanding, tolerance and respect for one another.
Paired to our love for traveling with our family, is sharing with you our tips. Be it grand like visiting the Eiffel Tower with kids, or tips of flying with children or as simple things to do at the beach with the little ones, we want to find more ways to share with you how family travel can be affordable, comfortable and an overall amazing experience.
This is why I would welcome with extreme happiness and gratitude the opportunity of becoming the next Best Western Latino Summer Travel Blogger so I can further my passion of traveling with my family and sharing it all with you as I feed my very much alive travel bug 🙂
Spring break and summer are upon us, so we are just ready to jump on the boat, bike, planes, boats, trains, cars, buses or our own two feet to keep uncovering the wonder the world. To start your preparation, get some ideas at our Travel section or visit us a Mamas Travel Tips where we also share our travel fun.
We already have a Family Summer Travel Bucket List that seems to keep growing by the minute: try again to observe sea turtles hatch, Munchkin 1 wants to see Dinosaurs, so a visit the Museum of Natural History in New York City is in order; Munchkin 2 is begging to visit South Carolina where a famous brand of cars has its manufacturing plant; Señor Cool is asking for a bit hiking and is looking at Lake Tahoe. I am dreaming of massages in Arizona or to continue my beach bumming habits somewhere in the Pacific. We all agree we need to finally ride the new 7 Dwarf roller coaster in Orlando and get to the Lobster Fest in New England. I am looking forward to crossing much off the list.

I love your crab story!! Too funny! That was like us last year at the beach with a jelly fish!! There I was, standing like a wall so the kids wouldn’t touch it and be stung but I sooooo wanted to touch it. Thankfully my desire didn’t win! That would have been a situation! Great Travel tips!
