We enjoy so much spending time with our family, we are very excited to invite you to the HERSHEY’S Family Play Days.  These are free community events that support the development and well-being of youth, while engaging people of all ages in building happy memories.  All of the activities are planned and led by teens; local youth leaders who serve as role models, helping to inspire kids.

Next weekend we will have one in our area, come out and join us for some good old fashioned family fun!
The idea is to enjoy simple and fun games, like Hop Scotch, Simon Says and Run, Jump Throw Relays, while sharing tips on how parents and kids can get active together:

Here are some cool tips on how you can make these Family Play Days a permanent part of your family’s routine:

  •       Call or visit your local Parks and Recreation Department. The mission of these organizations is to promote active lifestyles. Not only do they host events throughout the year, but they are a good source of inspiration for activities at home!
·         Volunteer for a field day. A longstanding tradition at most elementary schools is a spring field day, which gets kids outside for a day filled with hula hooping, relays, sack races and more. You get involved by volunteering with your school’s parent-teacher organization and spend the day running one of the activities.
·         Explore a new park together. There are thousands of national parks across the country that you can explore as a family. The National Park Service has a park finder tool on their website, which will help you identify one nearby. Spend the day hiking a trail to a scenic overlook or rent a canoe to explore a lake or river.
·         Connect online with other parents. Family focused community e-newsletters or blogs are a great way to stay in-the-know about community play activities. Host your own day of play. Collaborate with other parents and neighbors to get the kids together for an active play date at a local park or school playground. You don’t need lots of supplies to have a great time – this Activity Snack video shows how you can create an imaginative obstacle course with just some sidewalk chalk.
