When the weekend rolls around, the first thing in our minds is travel. With that the easiest answer for us is the Florida Keys. We love staying over, and we are extremely happy to have found amazing places to call our “Keys-Home”. We have our go to properties and today we are sharing one we have fallen in love with over and over again. We are talking about fantastic Florida Keys family vacation Stay at Islamorada in La Siesta Resort & Marina.
From a recent visit as part of the #IRCSneakPeek press trip to Islamorada, we revisited La Siesta, an all-suite oceanfront beach hotel at mile marker 80.2. After that we have gone back two more times to take friends and family from out of town looking for the perfect place for them in the Keys.
A true reflection of the Florida Keys, just setting property seems to melt stress away instantly. Peace, calm and relax in a laid back way is the norm here. Because the extra friendly staff is practically invisible until you need them, you truly feel as if you are alone on your private summer home right on the beach. So yes, the motto of the area “Come as you are” holds very real in these parts.
With amazing views from your cottage porch, it seems you will spend sunrise to sunset sitting and sipping right there. But, should you need to actually sleep or eat, the cottages are welcoming, spacious and with everything you need for your visit. Small full kitchens are ready for you in case you feel the urge to indulge in preparing a meal yourself.
This is the ideal place for extended stays either as a family vacations or a romantic rekindle. The rooms are inviting and boast a relaxing, refreshing decor that easily invited R&R to the picture. But, it is not only in the rooms or cottages that you get that feel. There are plenty of lounge areas and hammocks waiting for you to come by and just enjoy. It sounds as if all moms with busy lives and schedules can finally get that siesta (nap) in here!
To do more than lounge or nap, you can use the complimentary kayaks and bicycles, or get the staff’s expert help to book something else for you. Besides the beach and the ocean, you can also enjoy on property the hotel’s pool at your heart’s desire.
This quintessential Florida Keys Resort is also a great destination if you are planning a celebration or a wedding. Definitely beachfront is the way to go here. La Siesta Resort has great alternatives that will make your event memorable. Take for example, the engagement party to which the band was brought over to the dock and played on a barge while guests enjoyed food, drink on the beach, plus of course the perfect dance floor under the stars.

I have always wanted to visit the keys, but when we go to Florida every year, we can’t seem to leave Disney.

I think I’m only person on the planet who has not been to Fl let alone the keys. Oh it looks like a place I would never want to leave. This bitter cold snowy stuff is over done in Michigan.

La Siesta Resort sounds fabulous! There are so many great things to do and see in Florida and you want to be comfortable where you stay. I would love to check this place out.
I lived in Florida for over 7 years and never went to the Keys! Such a shame! Now that i’m way up in Montreal I dream of those beaches!!
I want to go to the Keys. Like Marielle, we lived there (for 18 years though) and I never went to the Keys. I had friends fly in to visit, and they went to the Keys, but we didn’t, lol. Kicking myself over it now!! Totally took it for granted then. 🙂
I’ve always wanted to go to Florida. There is a hotel I heard about that is under water in the keyes that would be awesome to see.
I am dying to go to the Keys. I think everyone in my family has been except me. Part of my family lives rather close to there. My husband’s family used to have a house down there and he spent every summer for most of his life down there.
I would love to escape this freezing weather for a nice and warm location. Florida is a great place to vacation.
