We can’t stop raving about the Disney movie Big Hero 6 since we saw it. The movie is filled with positive messages: working together, caring for each other, being the best we can be and not caring about what we look like or where we come from. Quite frankly, that is what familia is all about for us. We all have that tia loca (crazy aunt), or weird cousin. So when I thought about what it would be like if we all had a personal companion to get us through each day and help us enjoy life more, immediately I thought about my family. In this spirit, Big Hero 6 Inspires Tips for a Happier Vida (life).
“Big Hero 6” is an action- packed comedy adventure that introduces Baymax, a lovable, personal companion robot, who forms a special bond with robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to Baymax and his diverse group of friends— Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred — who transform into a band of unlikely heroes.
The characters all influenced our tips for a happier life:
- Find felicidad (happiness) in the little things: don’t rush your next cafecito (cup of coffee) with grandma. My abuelita really makes my laugh hard at the stories of her youth, and makes me savour my cafecito 🙂
- Sit down once a day to eat as a family. Yes, la comida (food) is a big part of our latin culture. Sitting at the table together opens up for interesting discussions or learning something new. It might sound cliche, but sharing at least one meal together bonds us closer together. Don’t forget el café de sobremesa – coffee after dinner.
- Súbele a la música -pump up the volume: yes get dancing! A mover el esqueleto!!! That salsa song that you can’t resist moving to, will bring back fun memories for sure, and shhhh it is a great way to exercise too.
- Find things to do together. The wonder of technology can bring the person far from you very close as it distances the one next to you. Put your smartphone away and find something to do together. Have a picnic at the park. walk on the beach, or get as many as you can to swing en la hamaca (hammock). You won’t regret it 🙂

My son really wanted to go see this movie, we just haven’t had time. It looks so cute! Doing things together definitely raises the happy meter, people are made for connection.
These are some great tips for maintaining happiness. This film is perfect for inspiring that in viewers.
We have dinner together as much as possible. Sometimes our schedules don’t allow, but when we do, we have fun talking and telling stories.

Great tips. Haven’t really heard of the movie ( no kids here). One of my favorite things to do when my cousin was younger was turn up the music and dance around.
I still watch children’s movies, even though I’m a little older now. I hear this movie is supposed to both heartwarming and hilarious!

Big Hero 6 was one of the surprising animated hits during the year. It’s nice that it’s now on Blueray so people can now add them to their collection and video library.
