Just the thought of going to the most magical place on earth is enough to put a permanent smile on my face. Getting invited to Disneyland as part of the Disney Tomorrowland press junket became priceless to me, as I had no recollection of my visit to Disneyland ( I was too small). We do go often to our very own landmark in Florida the Magic Kingdom, oh my, but going to the original felt , if I may say so, like giving a book collector a first edition. Can you say giddy with happy emotions?
Tomorrowland is one of our favorite sections in Disney World. My little race car drivers go crazy for the Tomorrowland Speedway, and I never miss some healthy competition at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin® ride. So as you can imagine, being able to experience first hand a limited time ride and exhibition was definitely an special pixie dust filled idea.
The movie synopsis for “Tomorrowland”, tells that bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (George Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.
Since the movie “Tomorrowland”, directed by two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird, is a riveting, mystery adventure, I was looking forward to the thrill of what Disney Studios and Disney Parks had in store for us. Without a doubt I was eager and ready to see it!

While you will get a sneak peek of a city in the future, the “Tomorrowland” journey starts with images that take us back to the 1964 World’s Fair. It is filled with food ads, pricing and quite a good amount of transportation details. From the start is sparked my the imagination and curiosity. Honestly I did get transported to the time when Tomorrowland was created.
Once you are in the theater, you will experience 12 thrilling minutes from the film that do give you a feel for all the energy and excitement of the movie. Zip, zoom up down. Oh how much fun! Once the ride is done, you walk into a very cool showcase filled with the inspiration, concepts, artwork and costumes from the film. All I could feel was a permanent sense of wonder as I tried to soak in everything we were looking at. It is a very cool museum piece-like moment that made me realize the gigantic amount of work behind the film It helped me wrap my head further around the film’s concept as well as that of the Tomorrowland inception for the park. The optimistic future Americans of the time imagined was palpable throughout the entire exhibit.
Can’t make it to the park before May 24th when the exhibition ends at Epcot? No worries, enjoy one of the new fantastic feturettes for the movie right here:
Like I mentioned, this impressive exhibit is a first time collaboration between Disney studios and Disney Parks that features some sort of behind the scenes of the movie plus exclusive images from the Disney Archives. To me it was kind of the appetizer for the Diamond Celebration of Disneyland. Can you believe it has been 60 years of the happiest place on earth giving us unforgettable memories? The festivities begin May 22, and include new night time spectaculars as well as a Glittering Parade, Street-to-Sky Fireworks Show and a Fun-filled, New ‘World of Color,’ Featuring Neil Patrick Harris and Mickey Mouse. ChEARS to Disneyland!
This truly is a UNIQUE experience for all movie goers and Disney lovers. As I admired it all, I couldn’t help but think of the never ending creativity and vision of Mr. Disney who worked tirelessly to help us dream. Who wisely said “Many of the things that seem impossible now, will be realities tomorrow”.
