1- You can prepare your mix at home before you go, and freeze it.  That way, once you are at the campsite, all you have to do is thaw and scoop into the Empanada round.

2- Things can mix quickly in your food bin or coolers.  Make sure that your Empanada rounds do not get wet.  If they do, it will be impossible to cook them on the grill.

3- Don’t forget a spoon to fill the Empanada rounds!

4- If you are in a fancy / decorative mood, you can close the Empanada rounds with a fork all around for that added detail.  Otherwise, just using your clean fingers will do.

This is a good twist to the usual empanada. This is something that I will try. I’m so used to having chicken or tuna empanada. I’d love to try my empanada with cheese next time.

I never thought we can grill empanadas. I always thought it was deep fried. I do make empanadas however, I use ground pork sauteed in lots of garlic and onions, (drain off the excess oil after sauteing), add in some chopped green leafy vegetables, lay it on the empanada rounds, then break one egg over it, seal the rounds and drop into a deep fryer. 🙂

You are right. Thraditionally Empanadas should be fried. We are just giving them a twist grilling and sometimes baking too 🙂
