We start our day with a refreshing glass of milk. We know that it is what “nos hace fuertes” makes us strong. I am not sure if it constitutes a family tradition or not but I do remember doing the same thing as a little girl, and hearing my grandmother encouragin all of us to drink our milk. What is for sure a tradition of ours, is to sit down after dinner and share a slice of delicioushomemade flan. While there are amazing combinations like the choco-flan we prefer the traditional recipe to indulge in. There is no doubt that Our Homemade Flan Recipe is a Sweet Heritage Tradition.
Flan is a great dessert that we all grew up with that is filled with the goodness of milk, one of the most affordable sources of high-quality protein you can find. After that glass of milk in the mornings for breakfast that helps us feel fuller for longer, we continue to care for our muscles, hair, bones and teeth at dinner thanks to our dessert because it has the proteins milk provides us to be strong and healthy. Here is our traditional flan recipe:
[yumprint-recipe id=’10’] Flan is very easy to make. The best way to complement and enjoy a slice of delicious traditional flan is with a glass of milk packed with essential nutrients and proteins plus calcuim, potassium and vitamin D. There might be silence for a minute or two and your family spoons flan and drinks milk after dinner. That silence will be followed by “mmmm” or “que rico mami” delicious gratitude for such a perfect way to continue traditions and ensure your family gets what they need from their food.
As a matter of fact there are plenty of savory and sweet Latin recipes that add protein to meals thanks to milk in its list of ingredients. Take for example this delicious spicy fish soup by chef Giorgio Rapicavoli from Miami’s Eating House restaurant who doesn’t shy away from cooking with milk!
