After visiting the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca earlier this summer I was very curious about the zoom-zoom factor. What a joy and pleasure it has been to test drive for a week the Mazda 3. I had never driven a Mazda and that zoom power is under rated! the car is so much fun to drive around all the while I feel safe and comfortable in it! With an overall 5 star overall vehicle score, I knew we were in for an amazing ride, but the car still managed to give me great surprises. We are all Zoom Zoom Fans in this house!
Getting behind that wheel was definitively all about being happy. Here are the top 3 things that caught my eye the very first time I sat in the car:
- the speed visor that sits over the dashboard to the driver doesn’t avert his/her eyes too to gauge the car’s speed.
- The overall design is very sleek and appealing. Inside the first thing I noticed was that the seats are super comfortable with beautiful perforated leather trim. They are quite sporty. On the exterior I was excited about the headlights! They are Bi-Xenon High-Intensity-Discharge headlights with auto leveling Perforated leather-trimmed sport seats
- Talking about light I am very impressed with it high beam control which automatically switched lights to high beams when it is too dark outside. It also recognized other cars, so it brings the lights down on its own not to blind other drivers!
After driving the car for a a bit I think everyone will appreciate these features:
I was impressed that a car company includes as part of its standard equipment 24 roadside assistance! Way to go Mazda. I think you will never need it on the Mazda 3 but it is total peace of mind to know you have it. After driving the car for a a bit I think everyone will appreciate these features:
- The fuel economy is there with 40 MPG on the highway
- The lane departure warning system and the blind spot alert features gave me a sense of security like no other. The car also has the forward obstruction warning so you really are covered on all fronts!
- It was so easy and so much fun to use the paddle shifters on the car. It is wonderful having that flexibility to enjoy your Mazda 3 with different driving choices!
But this Mazda 3 is so much more than just an exciting zoom-zoom. It is a bout an amazing company that stands behind it. During Art Basel we had the pleasure of getting up close and personal with it as they presented their new MX-5 and xxx at the Mazda Design Event. Look at this beauty:
Based on the Bike by KODO concept and Sofa by KODO concept we were explained the Mazda exhibit of “Car as Art” by designer Julien Montousse who spoke to us a bit about how Mazda is all about driving enjoyment. He also shared how the car company has been consistent with its focus on designing cars under the dynamic motion which leads to KODO—Soul of Motion design theme. This results in an new family of cars for Mazda that are full of life. Bottom line, the aim is to create an emotional bond between car and driver like no other I was impressed to hear from actual car drivers giving so my positive feedback , praising and being so vocal about how great the Mazda cars are. Thank you Mazda for an awesome ride and for inviting us to learn a little more about how you strive to innovate further for us.
