I have learned so much about animation during this amazing Disney trip to Los Angeles! Sit back and get ready to find out MORE about the behind the scenes for The Good Dinosaur. Today I share all about the voices behind Arlo, Spot and Butch. The Red Carpet Premiere for Disney-Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur was an unforgettable experience that was enriched with a insightful interview with Director Sohn and Producer Ream. Nevertheless, The Good Dinosaur Amazing Young Talent to the Power of 3 totally wowed me. We sat down for an exclusive interview with a trio of well-rounded, mature for their age, professional and family oriented kids that answered our questions like the most seasoned celebrities would.

Raymond Ochoa plays the dinosaur Arlo, and his friend Spot is Jack Bright. Marcus Scribner is the voice behind Arlo’s brother, Buck. The thing we wanted to know was how each of them got into character. Both Scribner and Ochoa said they did research on the dinosaurs. Raymond Ochoa found the Apatosaurus dinosaur kind looking, and he worked on making the character sound good. Marcus Scribner went for rambunctious because buck is gruff and tough. He didn’t hold back and let his emotions ran out towards the mic. Jack Bright had tons of fun practicing his grunts and growls. For the most part he annoyed his brother and practiced tons on him. At this point Raymond Ochoa turns to Jack Bright and tells him “I think he had the toughest character to do. He doesn’t have to talk. You know, it’s all, you have to bring out emotion just within these howls and growls, all these things, but I think you did an amazing job, amazing.” That just gives you an example of the values of these young actors.

Now get ready for these answers. When asked what traits of their characters they would like to adopt, Raymond Ochoa said he tries to be the best son he can be to his parents. He wants to thank them for all they do for him, and would like to do more around the house just like Arlo does helping at the farm. On Jack Bright, Ochoa ads that eventually Arlo sees how kind Spot is. He goes on “Literally just met Jack like last night, just by seeing him, I see how kind he is, how much of an amazing like soul he is. He was talking to his mom and I was like wow, he’s so kind.” Marcus Scribner wants to become a leader and as self-confident as Buck is.
Of course we all wanted to know what their favorite scenes from the movie are. Jack Bright answers first and says it is when my favorite part is when Arlo is trying to get the berries from the tree and he falls. For Raymond Ochoa it is the scene when Arlo and Spot share about their families and draw on the sand. Marcus Scribner picked his favorite without missing a beat: the scene in which Buck scares Arlo.
Finally they all shared what they would like those who see the film to take away from it. I loved all three answers:
Marc Scribner went straight to the point: self-discovery, family and friendship. He adds: ” I think self-discovery is probably what I took away and what I hope that other kids take away from the movie.” Raymond Ochoa summed it up with the phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover” when he said “Don’t judge someone, because you really don’t know who they are. They could be the most caring person, and you see something else. So yeah, everyone don’t judge someone because you don’t know them.”
Don’t you agree we just spoke to The Good Dinosaur Amazing Young Talent to the Power of 3?
I love discovering that Jack Bright had not seen the film by the time we had our interview. That made it extra special to have been at The Good Dinonaur Red Carpet Premiere with this great talent, who was appreciating his final work for the first time!
Now that you have the director, talent and executive producers’ insight, you have to watch The Good Dinosaur! If you watched already, give it a second viewing, it makes such a difference!
