Our Hearts Love Good Food
The old saying latin saying that translate into ” love enters via the mouth” truly resonates at home. We love to enjoy a good meal together, and we are aware that the right ingredients can lead to a healthy life. Particularly, I knew that eating fish like salmon helps reduce the risk of heart issues thanks to omega-3 fatty acids.
I was curious about which other food items would contribute to good heart health. BJ’s Wholesale educated me and taught me to look for red pink and purple produce. I did, and came up with a delicious Red Potatoes and Beets Roast side dish to complement the fabulous Pecan & Cranberry-Crusted Salmon with cran-apple drizzle recipe BJ’s provided us with.

These dishes look amazing, and for me, I’m always looking for some new fish dishes to try during Lent season. Can’t wait to try this.
Heart problems run in my family and my husband’s family so we do everything we can to keep ours healthy. This looks like a tasty recipe.
Ooh Nice! I love Salmon but always tend to make it the same exact way each time! This recipe would be a very nice change!
I definitely want to try that Red Potatoes & Beets Roast-it sounds delicious! I will skip the salmon–the only way I will eat it is if it is in LOX form!! I do try to eat heart healthy. Being diabetic it is even more important that I eat healthy low carb foods which most-but not all heart healthy foods are.
We really need to love our hearts. These recipes would surely help us take care of our hearts.
I need to start eating more red veggies! I normally focus on green… Red is heart healthy! I can’t wait to try the crusted salmon!

Cranberries and salmon are big faves of mine, yet I’ve never combined the two. OMG – it looks delicious. I need to make this ASAP and I love that it’s a heart-healthy recipe.
My kids eat all sorts of vegetables but they love it when I make “burnt salad”…roasted vegetables. They fight over who gets to finish it. I never make fish, but my husband does. I’ll have to show him this.
love the burnt salad name! Great trick to get the kids to eat the salad 🙂
I love that potato and beet recipe. It looks and sounds fantastic and is something a little different. My mom loves beets and she will love this.
I have never been a big fan of beats but I love potatoes I need to mix the two together and see how they taste. It looks delicious.
I love beats… love them! Normally I juice them so roasting them would be an interesting twist on a family favourite.
Honestly, I didn’t even think you could roast them. Learned something new 🙂
These are some great recipes – we are on the Wild Diet.
These look completely acceptable foods for our plan. Thanks.
Fantastic news then! Eat up and stick to your diet 🙂
Ok, this needs to be on menu (or realistically in my belly) right now. Your presentation of the potatoes and beets was really beautiful. I love beets and make them all the time. One tip: use gloves or put your hands in plastic baggies when cutting them, those suckers stain!
Do the ever!! thanks for the tip. So glad you enjoyed our presentation. Hopefully it gets you to eat more red potatoes and beets!
These recipes look good. However, they are something we eat. The fish recipe sounds good, I’m just not a huge fan of frozen fish.
Good for the brain too!! “amatus intrat per vesci” You have some good tips and points here and some GREAT recipes! Love the root veggies!
You are so right, I forgot it is great for the brain too. Thanks for the reminder 🙂
I don’t eat beets but the salmon looks so good! I’ll definitely try to make this at home. I need new salmon recipes!
Is it terrible that I’ve never eaten beats? I do however love red skin potatoes, we just had some this week. What I didn’t know is that they are good for my heart. I also didn’t know I should be checking for pink, red & purple in the produce section. Great information.
Well you have been missing out, but now you can change that! Go shopping with pink, red and purple in mind!
YUM! I love beets and potatoes together! This is a great side to serve with a roast 😀 one of my favorite meals!
This whole post screams my husband. He loves everything you posted so I will have to try these for him. I will seriously make his dinners for the next little while. They all look delicious!
