I interviewed Emily VanCamp during the all-expenses paid trip offered by Disney for the #CaptainAmericaEvent. All opinions and comments are 100% my own.
I love Black Widow. Her tenacity is inspiring to my niece, and so of course, I have been dreaming of more girl superheroes in our favorite Marvel movies. Captain America:Civil War does not disappoint a bit in many ways including the strong roles of women in the film. Before we interviewed Elizabeth Olsen who plays Wanda (Scarlett Witch) We had the immense pleasure of talking with Emily VanCamp or Sharon Carter, Agent 13 as we know her in the film. She is truly amazing, generous and intelligent. After interviewing her, I know Girls Have An Exceptional Role Model in Emily VanCamp #CaptainAmericaEvent

Interviewing Emily VanCamp
Emily VanCamp was the first interview we had as part of the #CaptainAmericaEvent press day. As you might remember from the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it is in it that she debuts as Agent 13.
Emily Van Camp entered the room and was all smiles and happy to see plenty of women in the room. She sat down and shared with us about training, her feelings about being a role model, and the kiss.

Emily VanCamp has a strong role in the film, and seeing how she is and inspiration for the girls in my life, I was totally taken with her take on becoming a role model for girls. It was so genuine, giving and heartfelt that honestly, Girls of all ages Have An Exceptional Role Model in Emily VanCamp. This is what she said: “I hate when people in the public eye say it is not their obligation. It is a choice, and why wouldn’t you choose to empower young women, and use yourself as a vehicle when you have a voice to inspire that. I know it is not a responsibility, but it is something I feel connected to. I have three sisters, I have wonderful women in my life, and want to see girls have the best opportunities possible and if I can inspire that in the tiniest way I can’t see why I wouldn’t.” Well said! I am a fan for life.
To that reply, her comments of the similarities between her own personality and Sharon Carter’s resounded profoundly because she loves a girl with a strong moral compass and a lot of integrity like Sharon does have. Yes, that sounds totally #TeamCap to me, and at this point I was almost ready to ask her to join #TeamIronMan, but something about a kiss prevented me from it. Lucky I didn’t because she went on to she tell us that as she tried to detach from her character she realized she is still totally Team Captain America.

Then we took a closer look at how she feels about going into Marvel history as Agent 13. To that, her quick reply to this: “It is really cool! Being a part of this is really a special thing, especially with the movies that they are making, and how good they are. What I love about Marvel is how they delve into the characters but give us freedom as well to create a version of the characters that hopefully the fans will like.”
This time around Agent 13 gets in some serious butt-kicking action. Before they started shooting she had a lot of training just to be prepared and ready for the physical activity which helped with the sequences in the movie. In the end, she only has one proper fight sequence in the film, and admits she probably didn’t need as much training as she did. As far as any difficulties, she shares “Everyone is bringing their A-game and you just don’t want to mess it up. Knowing that it will be a successful movie is a little intimidating but everyone is so kind and generous that it is not necessarily difficult but do the best job you can.”

On a lighter note before we move on to THAT kiss, Emily VanCamp had us giggling because she admitted to not looking up to a particular one; instead, she was obsessed with the Ninja Turtles growing up, and actually dressed up like them at for four years in a row!
OK, now I am going to tell you about the kiss. It is not a spoiler, I promise, We all want to know about it, and I can’t be selfish. Agent 13 kisses Captain America. There I said it. Now that I have, I know you are very curious about it from the lips of the girl that kissed Captain America: “It’s kind of refreshing to see Captain in a more intimate situation. They have chemistry… it was there even in The Winter Soldier… so it’s kind of nice to see it finally happen. What her and Steve initially identify with each other, what brings them together, as well as their love of Peggy, (is that) there’s an initial trust there.

About CaptainAmerica: Civil War
For this action-adventure movie a stellar cast joins in: starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo, Martin Freeman, with William Hurt and Daniel Brühl to tell this story:
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in twocamps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Opens May 6th.
Emily VanCamp is #TeamCap on the screen and in her personal life, but I keep strong in the #TeamIronMan camp. Which is your team?
