The world is yours to discover, you have your itinerary, plans to get lost and bags about to be packed. I used to always have that feeling that I was forgetting something on my list to get my travel ready and in order.  Sometimes, we overlook the very basics that give us peace of mind. Three Things For Worry-Free Wanderlust keep me cool and chill for my trips.

Three Things For Worry-Free Wanderlust

The obvious like a visa, your passport, vaccinations, your toiletry essentials, credit cards and money will probably be checked off early off from your list.  For me, these three simply give me added peace of mind for a stress-free vacation:

  1. Save your photos: what if your camera gets into an accident or stolen?  You can sure replace it but not your memories.  Make sure you figure out a way to make frequent back-ups via a cloud storage or any other system that works for you best
  2. Secure your stuff: a bit in line with the point above, be prepared. A belt with a secret compartment, the famous money pouch, a hidden compartment in your backpack or purse, a decoy wallet, whatever works best for you keep money and documents as safe as possible as you hop from train to bus to a walk in that historical square famous for its beauty and pick-pockets.
  3. Travel Health Insurance: no one thinks he or she will get sick while traveling.  You are planning for happy amazing times, not for illness.  Unfortunately, it does happen.  Best thing to do is to be prepared.

A Closer Look At Travel Health Insurance

I learned my lesson in Mexico when I had to be transported by ambulance to the nearest  hospital because of severe dehydration as a result of food poisoning.  Understanding the bills afterward was a nightmare and navigating the healthcare system was very confusing.  Not to mention that unbeknownst to me, the people from the ambulance kept my passport for payment because I didn’t have insurance.  Drama type stuff.

Have medical travel insurance?  You bet I do.

Not only do I have insurance, but also I am now comparing it to   MedEx Travel Insurance which offers coverage for travelers overseas for a minimum of 7-days and maximum of 365-days in 3 plan levels, and a lot of features:

– From $50K to $500K in Medical Expenses

– Medex Worldwide Travel Assistance Services

o Medical and Dental referrals

o Monitoring of treatment

o Facilitation of hospital payments

o Transfer of insurance information to providers

o Medication and vaccine transfers

o Dispatch of doctors and specialists

o Transfer of medical records

o Continuous updates to family, employer, and home physician

o Hotel arrangements for convalescence

o Replacement of corrective lenses and medical devices

o Replacement of lost or stolen travel documents

o Emergency travel arrangements

o Transfer of funds

o Legal referrals

o Translation services

o Message transmittals

o Transportation after stabilization

You can purchase travel insurance from MedEx Travel  of UnitedHealthcare Global”, since MedEx Travel is a subset of UnitedHealthcare, but keep in mind that travel insurance plans are not available for purchase for residents of Washington State or New York.

One last thing I would probably add to this list is a universal charger so you can charge all your gadgets regardless of current or socket at your destinations.

What would you add to a worry-free Wanderlust list?
