Just as Cinderella’s step sisters, I was jumping up and down for joy when I received a Royal invitation to the Magic Kingdom to help welcome Elena of Avalor. We had already welcomed Elena of Avalor into our home. But no words are enough to express the joy, pride, and bliss of partaking in such a beautiful event that welcomed a long-awaited princess into the pixie dust realm. The Elena of Avalor Royal Celebration at the Magic Kingdom was spectacular!
The Royal Debut
In beautiful Disney style, Cinderella and Prince Charming welcomed Princess Elena of Avalor to the Magic Kingdom! It was a very exciting ceremony that had all of us cheering and smiling big. The first Latina princess has made her royal debut and is mesmerizing us with all the qualities of a Disney princess plus some added salsa of Latin flare.
As soon as I saw the yellow, blue and red procession of musicians walk in ahead of Elena of Avalor I was in total goosebump mode. Elena arrived in a fairy tale carriage and met her hosts on stage where she shared a bit of who she is.
You can’t but help notice her exquisite and beautiful red gown rich in detail. It glimmers and swishes beautifully and does make a cultural statement with the more than 900 embroidered flowers that represent her kingdom and family. I need that dress for myself!

If you have already watched the Elena of Avalor show, you know that latin music in all of its genres is an important part of it. So in true Avalor fashion, Elena went on to serenade us with her voice and guitar to the show’s theme song “My Time” which tells of her magical adventures and about her return to Avalor.

Our hearts were full as we beamed back at Elena of Avalor during her Magic Kingdom introduction. There were ar few tears of joy shed and I can assure you every girl in the audience felt like a princess through her. The touching and powerful performance of the “The Royal Welcome of Princess Elena” will be available 4 times daily at the Magic Kingdom for a limited time starting August 12th.
If Disneyland is your home, Elena will be soon making her west coast debut. Fall is not far my friends 🙂
Elena of Avalor Scepter Awards
Not only did we witness Elena’s Magic Kingdom Royal debut, we also had front row seats to the very first Elena of Avalor Scepter of Light Award recipient. The Scepter of light was bestowed to out to a very deserving young lady. In partnership with the Girl Scouts or America, Disney singled out Ashley Chico for her commitment to community service via her project to encourage girls to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers.
Princess Elena of Avalor, An Amazing Role Model
Beyond her gorgeous fashion sense, Elena has a beautiful golden skin tone that sparkles as much as her strong graceful personality. Incidentally, this personality resembles all what la abuela and mom have been telling latina girls for generations to be. This time sans a prince to rescue because she can do it and figure it out on her own, thank you very much 🙂

Leadership, love for family, heritage, and the representation of all things Hispanic (because it is not just Latin, it is Spanish too) shine through effortlessly. She is a great role model to have! What I love best about Elena of Avalor is that Latino or not, everyone will identify with her because she carries the weight of being a Disney princess which means she is a superhero for little girls but instead of a cape wears a tiara, as Craig Gerber, executive producer, and series producer shares.
About Elena of Avalor – The show

What an amazing event!! Wow I wish I could have been there!! And I have no idea on the trivia!!
I’ve never heard of her, but then again, we are an all boy household so there are no princesses here. She sounds great for little girls, though.
Looks like it really was a beatiful and colorful celebration!! I would’ve love to be there
It was a wonderful event. I love this new princess, she is so cute!
I don’t think I’ve watched any of the princesses’ coronations before. That must be really exciting especially for the kids. Elena is a new inspiration for young girls and she’s all about being strong and compassionate.
Ah, so good to see them matched with real people and costumes! I have Latina friends that quickly became fans of her and though I’m from a different land, I adore her so much as well!
