Are you as excited as we are for the DVD release of Disney’s The Jungle Book live action adventure movie? Inspired by my meeting with director Jon Favreau and after watching Jungle Book on the big screen, we are ready to enjoy it at home on August 30th! We are preparing for a fun garden viewing. More than the opportunity to share an amazing cinematographic masterpiece, this is also the perfect way to get creative. We love anticipating for movies we love. This time, it is all about Getting in the Jungle Book Monkey Photo Booth Mood DIY!
The Jungle Monkey Photo Booth
I did this Monkey Photo Booth with the help of my young orangutan, gorilla, and baboon. This DIY is easy and makes for some good animal bonding time with your family 🙂
Here is how we did it:
Materials:
- 1 tri-fold display board
- brown and beige construction paper
- scissors
- glue stick
- greenery: you can choose to pick from your garden or make leaves and such with green construction paper
- paper flowers to evoke the “red flower” Here is how we did those
- glue gun
- box cutter
Procedure:
- Decide how many and where you want to place your monkeys on the display board. We went with two. Mark the spot for the head and body on the board
- With the brown paper, Cut out 4 circles, with a 30 cms diameter for the head and body of the monkeys.
- Get your head circles and mark another circumference of about 20 cms in the center of the circle and cut out.
- Make another 4 5 cms circles for the monkey ears.
- Don’t forget two strips of brown paper to make the monkey tails!
- Using the beige paper make a- 16 cms long oval for the monkey bodies and 4 units of 3 cms wide circles for the inner monkey ears.
- Now that everything is cut, use the glue stick to put the monkeys together on the display board as you had initially marked.
- Mom only: use the box cutter to cut out the display board at the monkey heads.
- Mom only: use the glue gun to add the greenery if handling natural leaves. The kids can use the glue stick to add the paper leaves
- Add touches of flowers
As you can see, you don’t need perfect circles or perfect anything for that matter. Invite your little ones to create with you and have fun with it! It took us 30 minutes to prepare and finish our project. Lots of hands and ideas lead us to a monkey hanging from a tree 🙂
