For the holidays, most of the animal parents we know travel with their furry babies. We already talked about tips for road trips with your dog. How about Tips on What To Pack To Fly With Your Dog? You probably have a running list of items you don’t want to leave at home when you travel. Don’t worry if you don’t have one for Fido. We make it easy on you with sharing our packing list.
What to Pack To Fly with Your Dog
While our list is not exhaustive, it is a good starting point, and hopefully, it will remind you of something else you don’t want to leave home without. Here is our packing list:
- Find out what paperwork is required at destination (especially internationally) Think about getting a health certificate as well as updated medical records.
- Take with you your regular veterinarian contact information.
- Ask your vet is there is a recommended veterinarian to keep in mind at destination in case of emergency.
- Extra collar, leash and I.D. tags
- Needed medications (regular one, do not tranquilize your pet unless vet suggests so)
- Get Fido’s grooming (toiletries) in order: brush, pet wipes, and flea control products if needed
- Water, treats and Beneful dog food for the ride, and for the entire trip if Fido is on a special diet.
- Food bowl.
- Be a good guest: have paper towels handy as well as poop bags, and stain remover products.
- Doggie’s favorite toy and / or blanke
You will be set with this list, which will be easy for you to cross-off. Not part of the packing for Fido necessarily, but we suggest you prepare a list of pet-friendly activities or locales at your destination. That will give your dog a chance to be a tourist and visit with you too!
The Secret Life Of Pets on DVD
The first time we saw the movie, we were beyond curious about what our pets did at home while we were away. Yes, we now have cameras at home so we don’t miss a beat 🙂 Now that we have an idea, we want to keep enjoying the movie that got us spying observing out animals at home. Luckily, we can do just that because The Secret Life of Pets is now available on DVD!
In their fifth fully animated feature-film collaboration, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures present The Secret Life of Pets, a comedy about the lives our pets lead when we leave for work or school. Max, voiced by Louis C.K., is a loyal terrier living a perfectly happy existence until his owner, Katie (Ellie Kemper) brings home Duke (Eric Stonestreet) a big, boisterous mutt she finds at the shelter. When Max and his unruly new “roommate” slip away from their dog-walker, they find themselves lost in the urban jungle of New York City. In an attempt to stay ahead of animal control and a rebel band of abandoned pets led by an unhinged bunny named Snowball (Kevin Hart), they put aside their differences to survive the epic journey back home.
Or Ride the Train
Surely this packing list will be helpful if you are not so keen on flying with your dog, consider a train ride! Riding the rails with a beloved four-legged friend will come with an extra special treat during this holiday season, in which “Pets Ride Free.”
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE) and Amtrak are teaming up for a first of its kind promotion in celebration of the December 6 home entertainment release of Illumination’s blockbuster film, The Secret Life of Pets. The “Pets Ride Free” offer, available for trips booked December 6 through December 11, 2016 or while supplies last, allows pets to ride at no additional cost on participating Amtrak routes from December 9 through March 31, 2017. How cool is that?
