Want to get the latest scoop from the Snoopy and his friends? Great news! Now, there is no need to look further because as a Peanuts Ambassador I will be sharing with you plenty! Yes, I am over the moon to have been selected to share the excitement from our friends at Peanuts Brand with all of you. To start, let talk about the Snoopy and Belle In Fashion Traveling Exhibit which launched on Valentine’s Day. Jill Schulz, daughter of Peanuts creator Charles Shulzand Melissa Menta, Senior Marketing and communications VP were at hand
Jill Schulz and Melissa Menta on the Exhibit
Fortunately, both Jill Schulz and Melissa Menta were available to share on the exhibit. To start Melissa Menta excitedly tells that the exhibit is a re-imagination of the first one that was on display on 1984 – “Snoppy in Fashion”. It was all about plus dolls of our favorite Snoopy and his sister Belle dressed by worldwide renowned designers. Today there are almost 50 designers dressing the dolls on display at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. The goal is enjoy fashion forward Peanuts characters.
Jill Schulz recounted how her father never traveled. Yet, he did attend the original exhibit in Paris. This is a testament to his interest and respect to what these designers were doing with their talents in relationship to his characters. Therefore, the 1984 trip was one he looked forward to. He always had a great respect for all people, their art, and entertainment. Although, he was never fashion forward. Of course, this is not to say he wasn’t interested in fashion. He produced an ice show at the local ice arena for 30 or more years, and always supported the costume designer and took a great interested in making the show look good.
The designer process
It was fun for Melissa to see how the Snoopy dolls begun to look like the designers. As far as the creative process goes, the artists have free reign as long as they don’t use real animal fur. Academy Award Costume designer Colleen Atwood dressed her Snoopy exactly as Johnny Depp in Alice in Wonderland which she originally worked on.
