When fabulous talent is paired with a refreshing story theme you know Marvel has done it again. But to experience all that cool mixed together is a moviegoers joy. Yes, Black Panther Exudes Brilliance! Before I share anything else I have to single out Letitia Wright who steals every single scene she is in! Here is the rundown about What Parents Need to Know About Black Panther. Rated PG-13.

What Parents Need to Know About Black Panther

Marvel fans are ready to hit the theaters with their families and friends. If you are concerned in Black Panther is appropriate for your kids, I am sharing my thoughts with you.  First off, if your kids have been watching Captain America Civil War, Thor of Ragnarok and all the rest of the Marvel awesomeness then you have nothing to worry about.  If you are still on the fence and wondering if your kids should go watch Black Panther consider this:

The biggest reservations

The main concern for me as a parent are the violence scenes.  Yes, usually those are epic moments in Marvel movies, but I am not so sure they can slide smoothly for kids under 10. There are violent battles and death on screen.

Language and nudity

Perhaps I am already a bit jaded with certain words at the movies, but I really did not count more than a handful words that would stick out to kids. However, there is a gesture you might need to answer questions on. Nudity is not more than a day at the beach in Miami.  There is skin to see in the different tribe costumes.

Impairing substances

T’Challa drinks a potion to take in the Black Panther powers.ready to watch marvel's black panther with your family? here is what parents need to know about black panther

Empowerment

Throughout the movie, there are different characters that are being empowered and taking hold of their dreams, goals and responsibilities in different ways.  Lots of conversation opportunities there!

The Awe Moments

Kids (everyone) will definitely be on a high about the technology and the action to enjoy. Visually and creatively it is a pleasure to take in. Friendship, family, and values are at the forefront.

Girl Power and Human leadership

There are plenty of women in powerful, key or invaluable positions in the movie.  The balance to that is a leader that shows compassion and strength.

Movie Length

Can your little one handle a two-hour movie?  Also, will they stay for the clips after the credits come up? Also, be on the lookout for teachable moments on feelings like vengeance, righteousness, anger and ambition.

A Must-see Movie

I feel the positives outweigh the reservations. so much so that I constantly hear about people funding and crowdsourcing to help kids get to the theaters and enjoy Black Panther.  I think a revolution bigger than the one Wakanda is about to embark on is happening around us.  I am so excited about that and the movie!!!

I like the honesty in your review. This might be a movie that we will not watch. My younger boys are not ready for this movie.

It’s a fantastic movie, we just saw it yesterday. I wouldn’t hesitate bringing younger kids into it either. It has some great messages to convey also!
