I had the pleasure of minimizing yet again. This time it was not for AntMan and the Wasp, but to become a toy at Andy’s backyard. I visited the new Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and it is adorably delightful!!! It is also tons of fun and has the best rides for families. Big and small every kid will enjoy them! Here is my Toy Story Land Complete Ride Guide with everything you need to know about them.
Disney invited us to experience Toy Story Land and witness the dedication ceremony. All excitement about playing with Andy’s toys in his backyard and opinions shared are 100% my own.
Toy Story Land Complete Ride Guide
There are 3 rides in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Toy Story Land. Of course, all of them are impossibly cute and will bring out smiles and happiness for all. That said, one of them is a coaster. I am a chicken for coasters. What can you expect from each of Toy Story Land’s rides? I cover it all in this Toy Story Land Complete Ride Guide:
Slinky Dog Dash
Slinky Dog Dash is the exciting smooth roller coaster in Andy’s backyard. It might look a bit intimidating to little ones and scaredy cats like myself. There is a steep way upstart which you might anticipate a big unwelcomed drop. Well, turns out the drop is sloped so it won’t get your tummy to turn mouth. Think Big Thunder Mountain without the sudden jerky moves or drops. As you ride along keep an eye out for Jessie and Rex…well you can’t miss them, they are huge, but see if you spot them while you ride π
- Height requirement: 38 inches
- Chicken meter: A thrilling fast ride. You will want to go on it again (from 0 to 5; 5 being the biggest chicken maker)
- Seat safety device: bring down the bar
- Photopass service available
Cool mom tip: the excitement is amplified if you ride on the left side or on the last cart of slinky dog.
Alien Swirling Saucers
It wasn’t the claw that caught me by surprise, it was the Alien Swirling Saucers! A great ride that would totally help Monsters, Inc. with their laughter generated energy!! I slid from side to side and into my friend Britni quite a bit when we first rode it. By the way, go read her post on Toy Story Land! You just never know where your Alien driver will take your flying saucer to next. Very much like the Tow Mater Ride at Disneyland. If you only been to the Magic Kingdom, think of the teacup ride. You just don’t have control to make it go any faster or slower. And it doesn’t swirl. Your cart seems to have a spring on it and it will sway quickly around one way or another. It is a smooth ride that will make you giggle tons! Lighter kids will be tossed around a bit more for added fun.
- Height requirement: 32 inches
- Chicken meter: zero.
- Seat safety device: big seat belt for the entire cart
Toy Story Mania
So this ride is the same as the one we already know and love. The difference is that the queue has been improved and Mr. Potato head is back! I also felt the graphics and 3D effects like wind were even better. I need to confirm with Disney if it is so or if it was my excitement for all things Toy Storyland. In any case. it is still all the fun, so get ready to point and shoot at it all!
- Height requirement: none, even infants can ride.
- Chicken meter: zero.
- Seat safety device: bring down the bar
Tips for Toy Story Land Rides
Some additional thought for our Toy Story Land Complete Ride Guide are:
While it is impossible to anticipate Florida weather, do note that the Slinky Dog Dash will close if clouds get nasty. The other two rides do remain open (as long as the land remains open as well). Here are some additional considerations for you:
- Fastpass available but choose wisely, you will not get two fast passes to Toy Story Land in the same day. I recommend Slinky Dog Dash be your choice.
- Extra magic hours available – take advantage of them (see Disney’s Hollywood Studios special inaugural schedules for added magic).
- Do visit Toy Story Land early morning to avoid the heat and scorching sun
- Toy Story Land at night is beautiful and a must enjoy as well. Almost like two different lands to have!
- Keep hydrated. Drink plenty of water.
- While in line take in all the details around you. There are even hidden Mickeys to find!
When in doubt, ride Slinky Dog Dash first. We didn’t and we were rained out. Yay! That means we need to come back because everyone needs to experience this cool ride!!
