When you think movies, you probably picture Hollywood.  But the truth is that not far from the iconic street lies a Los Angeles suburb that Warner Bros and Walt Disney Studios call home.  If you are in Los Angeles, you need to include  these Cool Things to Do in Burbank in your itinerary.  You will thank me later!

6 Cool Things to Do In Burbank

Places to eat, shop, party, and discover abound in Burbank.  A visit to Burbank pretty much has something for everyone.  It is a great off the beaten path, not so secret destination to add to your Los Angeles visit plans. From Museums to improv comedy venues, there are lots to discover.  That said, you should not miss these cool stops in your travels.

Eat well at Portos

Fueling up properly while you travel is important.  Better yet if it is finger-licking good.  If you live in Miami, you will be ready to compare the Cuban bakery to those back at home.  Get ready to be blown away by the delicious food and the family-oriented service.  To say that Portos is a popular destination is an understatement.  People queue up a long line to enjoy the flavors Portos offers.  Savory or sweet you will have a difficult time choosing a couple of things to taste.  It is a corner in Burbank that will overwhelm your senses!

Hit the Hay at The Safari Inn

If you need a place to stay, how about doing it at a movie set?  The Safari Inn is full of film history.  With its retro decor, it has posed as Florida.  It has been featured in Apollo 13, Six Feet Under, CSI, Desperate Housewives, and The Partridge Family.

This historical Burbank landmark offers complimentary shuttle services around town and has recently been fully renovated.  Even if you don’t need a place to stay, come by and take in the place that inspired the motel where  The Incredibles stayed.

Drink and Be Merry at Urban Press Winery

There is a winery right in the city of Burbank.  It is a great place to sample wines, and have a great conversation. The two-story bar-like lounge also offers tapas and we did eat an Italian dinner that the winery paired up to the different wines they offer.

Where Magic Happens in Burbank: The Walt Disney Lot

To visit the Disney campus is to step into pixie dust. Not only is it as beautiful as it is magical.  It also is home to the Disney Legends plaza!  Quintessentially Disney, details that make you smile or go awwwww abound. The air does spark with magic and you can just sense something amazing is brewing a few feet from anywhere you stand on the lot!

Movie History and Movie Making: Universal Studio Tour

Another studio lot that you can’t skip!  The Universal Tour is simply amazing and very complete.  Rich with movie history it will not disappoint!  Get ready for some behind the scenes action and encountering some very cool movie props!

Commute with Nature: Wildwood Canyon Park

In the mood for something more natural?  The hikes of parks around Los Angeles deliver breathtaking views and good easy exercise.  Burbank has Wildwood Canyon and it just wants you will want to do!
