Spies in Disguise Parental Guide
This movie has a ton of teachable moments, and it is rated PG. I definitively think it is a great movie for families. Yes, the ENTIRE family will enjoy this movie. It speaks to everyone. That said, let’s look at a few more details to help you make your final decision about taking the littles to watch the movie.
Action – Violence
This is a spy movie, so expect a lot of action. The action is mostly related to super cool gadgets and technology. Additionally, we do see some action scenes that are violent as the bad and good guys confront or chase each other.
Language and Gestures
The is a lot of humor, and it is mostly about yucky topics like how do birds use a bathroom….yes, don’t ask me. Watch the movie. Big naked butts are shown at one time too. Other than that, I don’t think I caught any bad language or gestures to worry about with the kids.
Intense Moments
The movie opens making reference to the death of a parent. Then, it makes a big reference to how it is OK to be weird. I do appreciate the anti-bullying sentiment the movie seems to underline in a suave and easy way throughout.
Technology and STEM
There is no shortness of WOW when it comes to inventions. Perhaps we might be taken aback by the way they are conceived. Above all the reason the creations come about is the best of it all: Not everything is resolved with violence. There is more than one character at the cutting edge of technology and inventions. There are girls and different skin-toned people working at it too!
Teachable moments
The movie speaks volumes about trust and teamwork. And, you do walk away with an abundance of hope. Additionally, get ready to talk about
- Not everything is solved with violence
- It is great to be weird Science rocks
- Never Judge a Book By its Cover
- Be true to who you are
