Welcome to Miami
Welcome to Miami ABC rom-com! Definitively, I am super excited to watch a show that unfolds in my city. I can’t help but pump my fist in the air when I see a bakery that is just like the Cuban one down my street. Pastelitos anyone? You know it, I have a simplified recipe of guava rolls for you that will bring you down Little Havana in one bite! Definitively, The Baker and The Beauty will have you wanting to try some yummy Cuban pastries. Of course, I also have a crash course for you on how to order your coffee in Miami.
About The Baker and The Beauty
Daniel Garcia is working in the family bakery and doing everything that his loving Cuban parents and siblings expect him to do. But on a wild Miami night he meets Noa Hamilton, an international superstar and fashion mogul, and his life moves into the spotlight. Will this unlikely couple upend their lives to be together and pull their families into a culture clash?
The Baker and The Beauty Review
Like I said, I got excited to see my city in its backdrop role for this exciting new ABC show. As expected, South Beach and the ocean are part of the scenery. But, so is Little Havanna and other cool places around Miami. I wonder if they will ever shoot at The Venetian Pools. While a bit predictable at times, you can’t but fall in love with the series. I bet, you will be looking forward to the next episodes of The Baker and the Beauty starting this Monday at 10 pm on ABC.
The show itself is inclusion which I totally applaud. It gives insights to a Latin family. Hard-working immigrants trying to do the right thing with love is what stands out to me. But it goes beyond Latinos. It talks about LGBT and Caribbean flare is for sure in the mix. I think you will be able to learn a few Spanish words here and there. Spanglish is part of the mix in the show and I love it!
The Baker, the main character is so relatable. Well, the entire family is quite frankly. I am not going to lie. As a Miamian, I am not so sure everyone plays the Cubans right. That said, each actor does play Latinos well. Adding to this, the parents really represent. They reply and react just like every loving parent would. Plus, a little more passion and Latin parenting style. They might be past the “chancleta” stage, but there is always a chance for it to make an appearance! Chancletas are flip flops. Grandmothers and mothers are notorious for correcting their children with one, goes the joke. I must admit, the Beauty’s Aussie angle is questionable. She moves way to well to Latin beats and the way she rolls her Rs when she says words in Spanish just tell me she also has Latina in her. Not a bad thing!
Dream, reaching for our goals, taking a shot at happiness. These are all topics that easily shine through in The Baker and The Beauty. It might even inspire you to take some salsa dancing lessons 🙂 . Before you know it, you are going to be rooting for the entire family. Not just the main characters. The mom’s enthusiasm for life, in general, is contagious. I know we can all use that spirit!
All Sweet and Good in The Baker and The Beauty
Family life is paramount in The Baker and The Beauty series. Humor, a bit of light drama and optimism are also at the heart of this programa. Not surprisingly, it depicts what happens to life when two people come together. Not only their own, but also of those who love and surround them. All in all, I anticipate the ups and downs will show how the characters will build character and find their true North. Because, I am already rooting for Daniel and his family, I can’t wait where this all leads too.
