My Spy Chloe Coleman Interview tells us about the movie, Dave Bautista, a swear jar and much more! Here comes a funny movie family movie about a spy and a girl. We sat down with Chloe Colman to talk about her role as Sophie. Of course, it is impossible not to talk about working alongside Dave Bautista. Here is our interview for the upcoming Amazon exclusive movie My Spy. Available on June 26th.
My Spy Chloe Coleman Interview: Dave Bautista and a Swear Jar
Chloe was so mature and professional. I totally forgot she was 11 years old. She began the interview by reminding us that this movie is really about relationships. Naturally, we asked about her relationship with Dave Bautista.
Dave Bautista is a Friend for Life
From the film, you get a sense that the cast truly is a big happy family. Chloe truly put all that into perspective when we asked her how it was like working with her co-star: “Dave is so easy to connect with. When we had our chemistry read is when we really clicked and I will always remember that. When we filmed it was so real, and I was really able to be in the moment and feel what I had to feel. The emotional moments felt very real to me. – Meeting him I was a bit intimidated. After we talked I really got to know him. He is not as intimidating as you think. He’s such a sweet person. I mean, he’s a lifelong friend. I am so grateful that we met each other. We relate to each other so much.”
The Swear Jar
Want to know what the funniest thing on set was? A Swear Jar! Chloe told us how apparently director Peter Segal paid-up plenty toward the swear jar: I would sneak up on him. And every time, it would happen so much, I would catch him swearing. I would be like ‘Swear jar. You have to pay.’ and he would just get so upset but he just never learned from it. It was so funny because I kept getting him over and over again.” He wasn’t the only one though. You know it! Dave Bautista did his share too. Chloe ended up with $257 collected. She then put in some to donate $500 to save the Amazon Rainforest
Becoming a Spy
Good thing Chloe loves a good spy movie. While her character Sophie learns a lot from a not so successful CIA spy, JJ (played by Dave Bautista), she shares that the one thing she likes about Sophie she didn’t learn from JJ: “The way that she blackmails JJ is so smart. She gets her way all the time with him because she has information that she can just expose. If I was able to do that, that would be pretty cool.”
Explosions and CGI
What spy movie doesn’t have an explosion or two? In this one, Chloe had to work pretending there was an explosion. That is because it was all done in CGI for this movie. She loved every minute of it too. Keep your eyes peeled for it.
About My Spy
Nine-year-old Sophie catches JJ, a hardened CIA operative, spying on her family during a routine surveillance operation. In exchange for not blowing his cover, JJ begrudgingly agrees to show the precocious girl how to become a spy. What at first seems like an easy task soon turns into a battle of wits as Sophie proves you don’t need much experience to outsmart a seasoned agent.
