Yes, there are hard topics and some emotional moments that can be tough in this movie. Especially for the youngest animal lovers. Nevertheless, The One and Only Ivan Uplifting Moments are full of hope. There are great lessons in this movie, and sometimes, things are not what they seem. So, it reminds us to be open minded as we enjoy a sweet film that did make me shed a few tears of joy and appreciation.
The One and Only Ivan Quick Movie Review
After we watched this movie, I was left with a great feel-good moment. As I mentioned, there are some hard moments and topics addressed by The One and Only Ivan. But, it is not a heavy movie. Actually, there is a bit of humor and plenty of tender moments that help make it light. It is a great family movie and it lends itself for an animal-themed family movie night. Of course, we brought out our Safari Cups DIY project. Little ones might have a hard time until the very end trying to understand animals in captivity and the friendship with humans. I believe the PG rating makes total sense.
Is The One and Only Ivan Kid-Friendly?
The movie is family-friendly. However, it is rated PG because the smaller ones as well as the more sensitive ones will need parental guidance. As far as action, there is not much. There are a couple of exciting scenes and a few intense moments. The later ones not only can pull at our heartstrings but will also give you a chance to open conversations with your kids. In particular, conservation will be an easy and obvious topic to dive into. The language and gestures are clean.
The One and Only Ivan Uplifting Moments
Yes, there are hard topics and some emotional moments that can be tough in this movie. Nevertheless, The One and Only Ivan Uplifting Moments are full of hope. What gave us that feel-good moment in The One and Only Ivan? This list below:
Friendship
Friendship in this movie made me think about inclusion. We can all be different yet the same. Or, at least, have the same dreams. We don’t have to look the same to have strong bonds and look out for each other.
Reach for your goals, keep your promises
There is nothing like the feeling of reaching our goals. Checking off our checklist is the best. Small or large, all of our dreams and objectives are important. I loved watching Ivan as he worked hard for his different goals throughout the movie. As you can imagine, the final scene is everything for this particular point.
Be who you are
We all evolve. I feel Ivan is true to himself in the entire film. At first, he works hard on what he believes needs to be done. He needs to be scary, and he does what it takes for that. Unwillingly, he takes on the role of caretaker, and he makes it happen. It might feel like he is lost to he really is, but he does grow into who he is at every turn. As he realizes, things, he moves towards that. His way is not imposing or aggressive, but he is constantly himself. It is wonderful to see him assert himself
Freedom
I loved the reminder that freedom can be interpreted in different ways. Respecting our views and dreams makes a difference. It also allows for us to be able to contribute to each others’ dreams. Here Bob and Ivan’s friendship is the perfect example when it is time to part ways.
I think the quote:”a good heart keeps you beautiful, forever” applies wonderfully to this movie. Let me know if you agree! Celebrate this special movie with The One and Only Ivan Activity Pack Free Printable
About The One and Only Ivan
Disney’s “The One and Only Ivan” is an unforgettable tale about the beauty of friendship, the power of visualization, and the significance of the place one calls home. Ivan is a 400-pound silverback gorilla who shares a communal habitat in a suburban shopping mall with Stella the elephant and Bob the dog. He has few memories of the jungle where he was captured, but when a baby elephant named Ruby arrives, it touches something deep within him. Ruby is recently separated from her family in the wild, which causes him to question his life, where he comes from, and where he ultimately wants to be. The heartwarming adventure, which comes to the screen in an impressive hybrid of live-action and CGI, is based on Katherine Applegate’s bestselling book, which won numerous awards upon its publication in 2013, including the Newbery Medal.
