The Sleepover Uplifting Messages

It is time for The Sleepover Uplifting Messages! Today, August 21st, we finally all get to enjoy The Sleepover movie on Netflix!  I can’t wait for you to see it.  There are many things that I appreciate about the movie.  And, I did find many positive messages.  I believe it important to always underline the good.  Especially, in these complicated days that might be difficult mentally for many, including the kids. So, check them out with me!

The Sleepover Uplifting Messages

Many say laughter is the best medicine.  I do believe that.  On that alone, this movie has tons of uplifting moments :-).  Get ready for nonstop giggles.  As I said, I found many positive messages in this movie.  I am not going to list them all.  Instead, I will feature the ones that spoke most to me:

Family comes first

The biggest takeaway from the movie is that the heart of practically every scene: family comes first.  The parents worry about the kids.  They will do anything to protect their family. And, the kids are about saving their parents.  In the end, their experiences help them understand each other better and support each other.  

Sibling love

Normally, you will hear me say that siblings that don’t fight, don’t love each other.  That said, I totally appreciated the other side of the coin.  Granted, you do find many times when siblings praise each other.  But, perhaps, it is not as often as it should be.  So, I was all smiles when brother and sister pointed out their strengths and what they admired of each other.  Now, I need to find a way to make it a common practice at our home.

Believe in yourself

Throughout the entire movie, we get to see how every character grows.  Yes, even Lewis gets to prove to his mom he doesn’t need certain help anymore. Our family sees us for who we are even though we might not see it.  It is worth listening to what they think of us from time to time.  Furthermore, the kids in the movie seriously show us that we can and should believe in ourselves.  

Inclusion

If you read my The Sleepover Cast Interview, you caught that Mim, blurts out something in another language in one of the scenes.  I did see that other cultures and family traditions surfaced in the movie.   Come back and tell me if you see them too.  Let me know which ones you appreciated.

Moms are fierce

We all know that, but kids don’t always realize it.  Here, we get a chance to remind everyone how a mama bear very powerful, even if not a ninja master.  In the wise words of Ken Marino, “don’t mess with the ninja mom”. 

Girlpower

There is a lot going on in this movie in all sorts of ways.  You will definitively appreciate that.  At the same time, the boys are not left behind.  They also bring to the plate to make this a great movie.  Makes me think, we should move towards the beauty of human power as we work together to have a better world and reach for our dreams.
