This year, our Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is not to be. But, we are determined to have all the magic in our Halloween festivities. Our Boo To You will be that Frankenstein has never been so adorable! Yes, I am keeping to my need to make things easy. Definitively, you will see for yourself how cool it is to make these donuts. Plus, we can’t take away the cuteness factor of these donuts, right? Not to mention, delicious.
Mickey Frankenstein Donuts Recipe
Of course, you can easily take away the Disney factor if you skip the ear part. So, even if you don’t have a Mickey fan in your mix, you can totally have Frankenstein donuts in no time. But, does that person even exist?
Ingredients
Donut ingredients:
- 1 cup of flour
- 1/3 cups of sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 0.5 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp of unsalted sweet cream butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup and 1.5 tablespoons of whole milk
Frankenstein Donut Neck Decor ingredients:
- 1 Box of gray fondant
- A Cut out of a thick letter “T” the electrical part on Frankenstein’s neck
- 1 bag of black candy melts
- cutting board
- 1 can of silver edible spray
- powdered sugar for dusting on the cutting board
- 1 box of toothpicks
Vanilla icing ingredients:
- 4 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon of clear corn syrup
- 0.5 cup of whole milk
- 1 teaspoon of clear vanilla extract
- 2 disposable piping bags
- Green and Black gel food coloring
- 2 squeeze bottles
Directions:
Directions to make the donuts :
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a baking pan with baking spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Get a small bowl to whisk together egg, milk, butter, and vanilla extract.
- Mix the wet ingredients in with the dry ingredients and mix until completely combined.
- Spoon batter into doughnut pan and bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 6 minutes.
- Then remove donuts from the baking pan and place the doughnuts onto a wire rack.
- Repeat steps until all the batter is used.
Cool mom tip: this is your first shortcut – you can use plain store-bought donuts and skip the above all together.
Frankenstein neck piece directions:
- Roll out the fondant onto the cutting board to 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut out the shape of the electrical part. You will need 30 cutouts for a batch of 15 donuts.
- Spray each piece with the edible dust.
- Allow the pieces to dry for an hour.
How to make the icing for the Frankenstein Donuts:
- Use a standing mixer on medium to combine the powdered sugar, corn syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and thick.
- Scoop about 3/4 cups of the icing into 2 bowls.
- Add a few drops of green to one bowl and mix.
- Add a few drops of black to the second bowl and mix.
- Scoop the two icings into their own piping bag.
- Pour the remaining icing into their own squeeze bottles and set aside.
Cool mom tip: second shortcut – if you don’t want to make the icing, you can use a store-bought one. But, you will not have the glossy finish.
Frankenstein Donut Decorating directions:
- Use a knife to cut slits into the top corners of the donut for Mickey’s ears.
- Place a black candy melt into the slits.
- Use the black icing to make the outline of Mickey’s hair.
- Next, fill in the lines with the black icing.
- Now, allow to dry for 30 minutes.
- With the green icing, pipe a line under the black lines to mark the green skin.
- Then, fill in the rest of the doughnut with the green icing.
- Allow to dry for an hour.
- Take the fondant piece, make a vertical thin line with icing, and place a toothpick into the icing.
- Carefully push the toothpick piece into the side of the doughnut.
- Repeat on the other side.
Finally, now you are done and ready to enjoy the Mickey Frankenstein Donuts!
