The War With Grandpa Cast Interview: Laura Marano, Oakes Fegley
Favorite scene
Laura Marano tells us her favorite scene is one of the very first ones when she is shhhhhhhhing her sister back and forth. Laura enjoyed her screaming match with Uma Thurman too
Oakes’ favorite movie prank is when his grandpa messes around with the furniture in his room.
On their grandparents
Oakes is lucky to have his 4 grandparents and does not want to take his relationship for granted. For him, family time is important especially during these times. He recommends enjoying each other’s company as much as possible. Unfortunately, Laura doesn’t have her grandparents. That said, she does try with her family to find time for each other.
The takeaway
Here is what Laura and Oakes hope the takeaway of the movie will be. There is a positivity to this film and it is something that is important to always keep or at least to try and stay positive. Oakes hopes, this film can help people get back smiles and laughter in this difficult time. Laura reminds us that open ongoing family conversations are uber important and a good habit to have.
Fun fact: there sure are a lot of pranks going on in the movie. Both Laura and Oakes confirmed that the set was prankless! In retrospect, Laura said they did miss their opportunity. Oakes shared that they are really not pranksters themselves. Both agreed that they did have a lot of fun on set.
The War With Grandpa Cast Interview: The Pearst Family – Executive Producers
How amazing is it to work together as a family on a cool project. The Pearst family developed the movie The War With Grandpa as a pitch from their son Tre. After reading the book, he thought it had to be made into a movie. His parents stood behind him and together they made it a reality.
The Book
Script adaptations for books are commonplace. The one thing that absolutely had to be in the book was the scene of grandfather and grandson going on a fishing trip.
Robert DeNiro
Tre had it in mind to have Rober DeNiro be the grandpa in the film because as much as he wanted to watch DeNiro films they were always rated above what his parents would let him watch. Not to worry, he has finally begun watching a few this summer.
Fun fact: Tre will be recognized by the Guinness World Records as the youngest movie executive ever.
Cool Video Games
As expected, Peter plays video games. In the movie, he is seen playing the game Medieval Wars which is coming soon to the American market from Europe.
The War With Grandpa Cast Interview: Jane Seymour and Cheech Marin
Both Jane and Cheech shared that they had tons of fun working on this movie.
Best Movie Moment
For Jane Seymour, who plays Diane, an associate at Fry’s Electronics, she ended up very busy taking care of actual clients who were asking her stuff as if she was a true associate of the company. Cheech loved the Skyzone scene. He was terrified but had tons of fun.
The Dodgeball
Cheech joked that he did all of Jane’s stunts. In all honestly, Cheech was worried about flaring up old injuries. Jane did say that she had a blast doing the scene. There’s an epic dodgeball scene in the movie. While stunt doubles were used, Jane jokingly said the scenes where her character falls down are her own moves. In the interview, Cheech (who plays Ed’s friend, Danny) also joked that he was Jane’s stunt double. Jane did say that they all had an enormous amount of fun doing that.
The Sequel
Both of them are ready to work it. They were not quite sure if it was coming, but we heard from the executive producers that it was coming. When you watch the last scene in the movie, you will get an idea of the direction the sequel will take,
Fun fact: Danny has several funny lines thought the movie. Nevertheless, Cheech said that he’s actually not a prankster in real life.
Mark your calendars because The War With Grandpa opens on October 9th. movie review and parent guide to come!
