Once Upon a Snowman Melts Our Hearts
Josh Gad returns as the loveavle Disney Frozen snowman. Yet again, he does a superb job. During our chat with the actor about Frozen 2, he explained how Olaf helps us see things from a perspective of innocence and discovery. True to his traits, Olaf shows us this time around, how he comes into himself after Elsa created him.
Once Upon A Snowman Review
There is no doubt, Olaf captures our hearts once again and melts them in the process. Endearing is the name of the game with this film. I will admit from the start that my favorite Olaf-centric movie is Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Nevertheless, this one does not disappoint. As a matter of fact, it leaves us seriously wanting more Olaf and Arandelle adventures. As we discover how Olaf becomes himself, we finally get a glimpse of some of Olaf mysteries. For example, we get answers to Why does Olaf like warm hugs? What is Olaf’s purpose? How does Olaf know about summer? Why does Olaf love summer? How did he get his nose?
Olaf is lost
He doesn’t know his name, his purpose, or where he came from. But, he deals brilliantly with the question, who am I? we see him do it not as a side note, but right in the middle of the Frozen story. So, we get a different perspective to the film with a capsule of pure warm hugs.
Once Upon a Snowman is Thoughtful
As we should expect from anything Frozen, this movie and its story is rich without being in your face. Plus, besides enjoying the warm hug that this short is, you will enjoy Olaf’s comedy. Plus, we definitively started to feel the holiday spirit with this short. By the way, even if it a fast-paced short, the storytelling is on point and does not feel rushed.
In all honesty, the downfall of this short is that. It is 6 minutes long and I am ready for 3 more hours of Olaf!
