Why should everyone watch Doug Unplugs on Apple TV? See why in our Doug Unplugs Review and Producer Interview. This adorable and educational Dreamworks series is based on Dan Yaccarino’s popular book Doug Unplugged. It is the story of six-year-old boy-robot Doug, his friend Emma and their discovery journey on how the world works. Yes, there is lots of fun and lots of cool learning.
Doug Unplugs Producer Interview
We chatted with the show’s executive Producers Aliki Theofilopoulos and Jim Nolan. During the interview we talked about all the fun the kids will have watching the series. Get ready for new characters like Emma (she is not in the books) and a new way to look at the world. Both Nolan and Theofilopoulos underscored how Doug gets a chance to unplug and discover the world with a hands-on approach. Simply, because there are things that need to be experienced to learn or understand them. Lucky for Doug, he has Emma, his human friend to guide and help him. In the words of Jim Nolan: ” “Our show is all about balancing tech with experience. Treating tech as an important part of kids lives that isn’t going anywhere but then it says you need to have your tech but go out and explore your world.”
Here is some of our conversation for you:
Doug Unplugs Review
If you are looking for something new to watch with the littles, Doug Unplug is it. This sweet new series will teach everyone something. This is not your traditional educational show. That is, because it includes a bit more. Parents will definitively come away with something new.
Fun Learning for Everyone
For example, when the show talks about table tennis, it doesn’t only tell you what it is. It also explains, how to play and shares fun facts. Like when the sport became part of the Olympic games. The best part is, that the program shows the kids that it is good to disconnect! Yes, there are many things you can learn about Table Tennis online. But, there is nothing like what you will learn when you actually go out and play it!
STEM
When you have a family of robots, you know there is tech in the mix. Before you know it, your kids will be saying “wait a nanosecond” and know what it means! The show offers some cool scientific curiosity and inspiration along with its implementations in real life. So, the concepts don’t just stay as abstract ideas.
Family and Friendship
Both are at the heart of the series. Particularly, I love how we are reminded that adults can learn from kids too. The families are so perfect. From the start, you have Emma’s mom traveling for work and her dad with a grand personality that is mega involved with his kids. You are going to be blown away by how cool Doug’s mom is too. She juggles it all and has some very impressive features like rockets on her skirt!
