I have for your the Disney Plus Safety Movie Review. Nowadays, I am looking for all the feel-good movies. Definitvely, this is a good one. On face value, the movie seems to be about sports. But, it is so much more than that. As a matter of fact, it is a great twist on a sports movie. Yes, you are inspsired to reach for your goals. But, not in the pure athetic sense of it. Beyond that, it is all taking charge and making a difference. This family movie will uplift you. And, in my case, make us want to do better and work harder.
About Disney Plus Safety
This movie is based on the life of a Clemson student. He goes through what seem impossible challenges to ensure his family is on the right path. All the while he himself is working for his future.
“Safety” is a drama inspired by the empowering story of former Clemson University football safety Ray McElrathbey (Jay Reeves), a young man facing a series of challenging circumstances, whose dedication and persistence help him to triumph over repeated adversities. Aided by his teammates and the Clemson community, he succeeds on the field while simultaneously raising and caring for his 11-year-old brother Fahmarr (Thaddeus J. Mixson).
Safety Movie Parent Guide
Is Safety kid-friendly? The movie is rated PG. Let’s take a close look at what parents want to know about the movie:
Action
There is some on the field, but very little. Especially if you are going in to watch it thinking it is a sports-centered movie
Violence
Again, you will see some classes in the field. The violence is mostly implicit. For example, when Ray comes looking for his brother and finds him in the company of not so wholesome people.
Intense moments
What I would consider the most intense moment, is totally toned down. I am referring to the build-up and ultimate NCAA decision. It can cause kids a bit of stress to watch the secrecy and hiding that takes place. But, the movie handles that with more humor than drama. Perhaps the frustration can be understood when Fahmar does not listen to his brother and puts them both in evidence.
Adult Topics
There is romance in the movie, but nothing hot and heavy. The biggest adult topic is substance/ drug abuse. This makes it a great moment to talk to your children about it.
Disney Plus Safety Review
Movies about sports tend to be inspirational and motivational. I find Safety does achieve this very well. But, it does it from a different perspective. This is an inspiring movie for Sports fans. That said, whether you are into sports or not, you will appreciate this movie. Ray is an example of courage. He sure steps up to the plate and teaches us what resilience is like. Constantly, life is throwing new challenges at this young man. And, the way he just deals with them is an inspiration. What I love about the movie is that it is all about family. You will see that family also comes in the form of a team that comes together to support their mate. Additionally, he shows us that no matter what life throws at you, you can. He never lost sight of all of his goals as he maneuvers through the different curveballs that keep coming his way. Also, sometimes, we need to learn to accept the helping hands coming our way. Get ready to enjoy some humor and touching moments throughout the movie. More importantly, be ready to be inspired!
You will need tissues.
Don’t forget the tissues. You will need them. There are a couple of scenes that are gut-wrenching. Plus, you will shed some tears of joy too. It is beautiful to see the commitment of a brother towards another. And, added to that the commitment of a community to one of their own. In this case, the Clemson team with Ray-Ray.
Difficult Topics
Talking about those issues, the view on difficult topics is interesting. For example, the caring and empathetic approach to talking about Ray’s mom’s drug addiction. What would you do for your loved ones if you don’t have that direct parenting responsibility?
Yes, you can
Without an in your face kind of attitude, this family-friendly emphasizes that hard work, perseverance, and the will to make it happen. Without a doubt, all are important to make a difference in our success. But that is not all. At the heart of it all is: not giving up and prioritizing family. I love that you can also look at topics like being focused, driven, and determined as conversation starters with your family. You can also consider things that can be as simple as what they want to be when they grow up. Of course, you can always address discipline and being true to yourself. Both in the movie too.
Family
The movie reminds us that family comes in different shapes, forms, and that a direct bloodline is not required. The entire drama revolves around the relationship of a young man and his brother.

Disney Plus Safety Movie Review Overall Thoughts
If you are looking for an inspiring and entertaining family movie, you need to watch Safety. It is perfect for the entire family. Everyone will appreciate the evolution and admire the great traits that are exemplified. It is a bit long. And, I felt the ending was a bit rushed. Additionally, it felt like the most important NCAA decision that the movie led up to was too easy. Maybe, it’s the lawyer in me, but I would have loved to see how he prepared for that encounter. The fears and expectations of it. Perhaps, in saying this, I miss the core of the film, which is family and doing the right thing. Yet, that was clear and I wanted a bit more of the story. Nevertheless, this feel-good movie will definitively add to the festive mood of the season!
