WolfWalkers Parental Guide
To say that this movie is stunning is an understatement. It is a beautifully crafted masterpiece that oozes passion for its artform. Visually, the movie is vibrant and rich. Yes, it is hand-drawn and it is magnificent artistry. But, will that alone captivate the kids? As a matter of fact, is WolfWalkers Kid-Friendly? It is rated PG. So where does that classification really sit with our children? Here is our WolfWalker parent guide for you:
Both Robyn and Mebh, our protagonists, live their adventures. Robyn is seeking for a bit more freedom. And Mavb apparently is a wildflower that owns the forest. The action will come as both fun and scary/dangerous at different times in the film.
The lord protector is out to destroy the wolves. Weapons like muskets, canon, and arrows are fired. Fire is used to attack. Animals growl and bite. Mobs are angry too.
None that I caught
There are several moments where the movie characters are in life or death peril. Plus, the care of family brings anguish and tense moments. Also, Robyn gets into an argument with her dad. And, while it is beautifully done, the human-animal transformation was a bit scary for a little one under 5. On the other hand, this same transformation captivates the moment perfectly and makes it clear in a fairy-like way. Finally, in the village, there is a sense of fear (be it towards the soldiers or the wolves).
Two cultures. The British and the Irish come together in this story. It all happens during the very bloody CromThey do it via two very opposite characters. Their spirit, point of view, situation and station all add to how different they are on face value.
Overall, Is WolfWalkers Kid-Friendly?
Hands-down, a wonderful family film that everyone will understand. Quite frankly, I thought the fact that the animated movie is hand-drawn would diminish the kids’ interest. I was so wrong. And, the story enthralled them in no time. I do believe this movie is kid-friendly. As a matter of fact, it is a great family movie. Just be watchful for those under 7 and the more sensitive children at the intense moments. It can be scary and some topics touched upon can bring out blue feelings. And, also anger. A big conversation starter is how alike the girls are. Despite their different backgrounds and lifestyles, they become fast good friends over love. Indeed, love for animals and the environment. But, also for the love of adventure and family. Now on to the WolfWalkers Movie Review.
WolfWalkers Movie Review
I can’t share the WolfWalkers Movie Review without its tag line: Be fierce, be wild, be free. How beautiful. I can’t rave enough about this mesmerizing film. It transports us to middle ages Ireland with a story full of twists and turns. It has some predictable moments. But, those go
down smoothly. This epic tale of fantasy and strength is a simple story with a strong relatable heart. Unquestionably, you will feel joy watching WolfWalkers. Its visual production is remarkable. Perhaps, I would have liked to know why the lord protector was keeping Mavb mom. Nevertheless, I know in terms of storylines sometimes it is difficult to edit. But, it does bring the relationship between nature and human behavior to the forefront. Most likely, you will be pondering on several points that the movie sheds light on. At the end of it all, you will walk away uplifted and wanting to make a difference. Hopefully, it will also make your family curious about Irish culture. It did mine for sure.
The unique animation deserves more praise. At first, I was struck by the harshness of Mebh face line. But, this character has so much to give that those lines blurred after a while. Besides warmingly original, the vivid scenes incredibly come to life. So much so, that even the background feels like a main character of the story. Definitely, there is a lot that will catch your eye. Check out how to draw Robyn and Mebh – taught by the filmmakers!
Be True to Yourself
The film itself stands out and makes a mark. But, if you need more than that, you will see how the girls do not deviate from who they are at heart. Definitively, we witness girl power in play and fighting for what we believe in takes centerstage.
