Marvel WandaVision Review: Cool Weird Fun. Those are the first words that come to mind after watching the very first episode of the new show. Nevertheless, there is so much more than that to it. After 3 episodes I am totally hooked. Also, I am super excited about how the MCU has started its phase 4. Yes, I am totally blown away. Definitvely, the creativity and love letter to sitcoms that Marvel has created is a gas!! You have to watch it on Disney Plus!
Cool Weird Fun
WandaVision is unlike anything you have ever seen in the MCU. It is all-different and humorous in a special way. The icing on the cake is finally being able to see Vision and Wanda happy together. That said, you might be scratching your head. Why black and white? And, why so many more things. Surely, you will relate to flying pots and pans, and other situations. That is because the show took inspiration from sitcoms from each of the eras it depicts.
Marvel WandaVision Review
There is no explanation about how two superheroes that just did their thing in Endgame are now in a 50s sitcom. Much less why it starts going forward into the sitcom decades. Nevertheless, we need no explanation. We watch and wait to see what is next. The biggest mystery has to be: what in the world is going on???? But, the show beckons you to relax and enjoy great performances and the love letter to the sitcom genre through the years. For now, it is “cute-cute, until it is not” as head writer Jac Schaeffer told us during the cast interview. Olsen and Bettany playoff wonderfully their romance, and efforts to fit in as the decades progress. The entire WandaVision package is impossible to resist. This delightful show feels like all can turn dark pretty easy, pretty quick. You sense the Marvel flowing through its veins. And, while the first two episodes drop on January 15th, you absolutely must watch the third one once it is available.
After watching the first three episodes, I did not get any blaring clues to anything. Until, the cliffhanger of the third episode…..or did I? We do see the Hydra commercials, and Monica Rambeau (from Captain Marvel) is part of it. But, so is Agnes. Does Agnes have any secrets? We can’t tell as of yet. Could this show be still just an exploration of what Marvel can do? I doubt that. After all, this is the opening for Marvel’s Phase V!
Not How It Seems
The fresh concept is bound to throw some off. Undoubtedly, its lightheartedness gets a curveball with the eerie mysterious vibe it has. As WandaVision keeps us to the edge of our seats trying to guess what will truly happen next, we get to enjoy plenty of Marvel Easter Eggs. Hold on tight. We are all in the same boat trying to get answers. So we might as well take in the Marvel-ousness of a well-done show with stellar acting.
My Marvel Conspiracy Theory
This, is what for now, I might stretch and venture to imagine. Since, Vision is no longer, after Infinity War, courtesy of Thanos, Wanda is grieving. Could it be that this is her coping Scarlett Witch mechanism? In reality, only 3 episodes do not give us much. Also, could Agnes be from S.H.I.E.L.D.? All that unannounced intrusion has to be for a reason. Nevertheless, I am totally hooked and can’t wait to see what happens next!
Starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, “WandaVision” marks the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision – two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives – begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.
