What do they say? Here are The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Things to Know from the press junket. These are fun fact, talent wish lists and food for thought from the creators and talent of the new Disney + show.
So Ready For More Marvel on Disney +
When I interviewed Anthony Mackie on Captain America Civil War, we have come a long MCU way! After Endgame, I’ve been at the edge of my seat waiting for more Marvel. WandaVision could not come soon enough. Personally, WandaVision was way too cool. But, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier just crushes it!!!!
You bet, that after screening the amazing first episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier I was very excited to talk with:
- Anthony Mackie (“Sam Wilson”)
- Sebastian Stan (“Bucky Barnes”)
- Kari Skogland (Director)
- Malcolm Spellman (Head Writer)
- Kevin Feige (Producer)
It really is a Marvel explosion that everyone needs to watch. Soon, my review will be out for you. In the meantime, let’s take a look at The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Things To Know.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Things To Know
A fun fact is that while this is the second Marvel series to air, it is the first one they worked on. Another one is that because Sam Wilson is from Louisiana, Anthony Mackie requested he got a chance to eat crawfish on screen. But that did not happen. Here are more details from the Falcon and The Winter Soldier Press Junket:
Going Big
I called the first episode of this series a “Marvel Explosion. Kevin Feige confirms that even though this is TV, they are still going big. And he did make a reference to the first episode “starts off with a bang. (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) Starts of with the best action we have ever seen”.
Fun fact: 48 Hours, Lethal Weapon and Rush Hour and Bad Boys types help shape the buddy cop feel of the series.
Will there be a The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 2?
This is a big question on everyone’s mind because we can’t get enough of the MCU. And, if the first episode is any indication, we will be wanting more than just 6 episodes of this new Disney Plus show. The answer, as always, was not a clear cut one from Kevin Feige. He said “There’s certainly ideas”. Right now, he suggest we enjoy what we have because these Disney + series can relate to the movies or other series. Something that really made me happy was when Feige said they have been working on over 10 series for a few years now. WandaVision just gave them the green light to keep at.
Getting to Know The Falcon and The Winter Soldier
Anthony Mackie shared that we are going to “dive into his-his backstory, and his family, and his surroundings (The Falcon)”. Sebastian Stan added that both characters suffer PTD and we are going to see how that comes to life and how they both deal with it.
Is Emotional Trauma a Recurring Theme ins the Marvel Series?
Kevin Feige shares:” I think definitely. I I think you feel it more because you-we have more time with the Disney+-plus series, but I think that’s something we’ve always tried to do. Ironman 3 was all about Tony Stark’s PTSD from Avengers essentially. It’s always about exploring. What’ s great about the Marvel characters is you’ve always heard us say is their flaws, is grounding something for as crazy and extraordinary and science fiction and fantasy and supernatural as the MCU can get, it’s grounding in the character experiences and the emotions of the character. And that’s always by far the most important anchor for any story we’re gonna tell”.
Fun fact: Anthony Mackie would like to have a part in She Hulk and Sebastian Stan in Moonlight.
Surprises in this new Series
In the first episode, there is a surprise appearance by Don Cheadle. When asked if there would be more surprises in the show, Malcom jumped in to say that indeed there are many surprises. But, Feige said NO! So, we have to wait and see who called it.
Action sequences
We are going to see more hand to hand combat. “As in the movies, the-the stunts are
really amazing. it’s more hand to hand combat. It’s more physical. It’s more assertive. It’s more of us, utilizing our strengths, instead of something else”, said Mackie
Expectation of the torch being passed to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier
Anthony Mackie says that “when Captain America shows up at your door, you answer it”. He adds: ” I’m very happy to say that Steve Rogers will be proud that our show does not suck. we are not the first crappy Marvel project. So the next show has a problem because if it’s bad, they’re gonna be the first crappy Marvel project in like 20 years.”
Fun fact: we are going to get more of Bucky’s sense of humor in the series
