Is F9: The Fast Saga kid Friendly? Parental Guide

If your kids have seen any of The Fast and the Furious movies, chances are you will not have an issue with this new franchise installment. This movie is officially rated PG-13 for language, action, sequences of violence. What does it really translates into?   It feels like an R rated movie at times.  So, F9: The Fast Saga Kid Friendly? This is what parents need to know about F9:

Action- Violence

There is plenty of action. Get ready for explosions, shootings and chases. There is violence:  people want other people killed, heists, car jacking, dangerous driving and shootings are just some of the norm for this franchise and this movie.  There is lots of peril for the characters.

Language

There is language for sure.  That said, we can’t recall F bombs.  Nevertheless, yes to profanity here.

Intense Moments

Family loss is dealt with.  As a matter of fact, youths witness the death of their father.  And, a girl losses her parents in an explosion.  These can be intense moments along with an escalates sibling rivalry.

Adult Topics

To start, women who dance suggestively are featured.  Yes, their clothes can be revealing.  As expected, the music lyric have sexual references.  And, there are a couple of scenes that include drinking.  There are minor references to dealing drugs and smoking drugs. Finally, Dom and Letty share a kiss.

Overall Is F9 The Fast Saga Appropriate For Children?

Fans have been waiting for this movie. I must tell you it does not disappoint fans! If you have watched a few movies from this franchise, it will come as no surprise that characters come back from the dead. Also, impossible feats are achieved. To that point, Dom is a passenger to the amazing Helen Mirren! Clearly, there are a lot of over the top hard to believe moments in the film.  So much so that this is quoted in the movie “If this was a movie, this would be when….” they know as much as we know how crazy it gets. But, it is great entertainment.  The movie is full of humorous exchanges and one-liners.

The Heart of It

At the core of the story is family and friends that become family.  This comes together from past movies and in different ways in F9.  Definitively, it is fun and a great movie to spend time with your family.   The consensus is that it is a fab summer movie that will have us laughing and cheering the crazy.  I totally recommend it for kids 12 and over, if they have never watched any of the franchise’s movies.

The Cars

While we see them and most get destroyed, it seems the story is less and less about the awesomeness of cars.  Despite that, the joy of shifting gears and a car chase is all there.

Length

No die hard will complain about 2.5 hours of fast and furious.  No doubt, the movie keeps viewers engaged at all times.  But, little ones might not make it all the way without a potty break.

Did we need another addition to this movie series?  Probably not.  But it is fun to watch.  Plus, the next one is already in the making. so there will be more.
