Black Widow Movie Review: The Marvel Heartfelt Movie We Needed. Marvel has never failed to deliver amazing epic action productions that have heart. But, this time around, Black Widow amps the heart and brings us a movie with more feeling than we are used to. Perhaps, that is why it feels more powerful, sensational and overall complex film that dwells into feelings at the same time it plunges us into action. At its core, it reminds us that humanity is the most powerful weapon. As a movie it is fantastic and here is why it is so:
Black Widow Movie Review
Yes, the film has all of the Marvel movie points. Paired to that, Scarlett Johanssen has always delivered a powerful Black Widow. This time around she ups her game and blows it out of the water. Additionally, the whole cast throws their weight behind it. Definitively, Florence Pugh does not stay behind and add incredibly to the film. And, the funny moments that the Red Guardian are noted.
A Black Widow For the Fans
Finally, and thank you. Yes, it is what we needed. As always, we will want more. But, this (for now) does hit the spot. While some will say that Black Widow might feel a bit like a secondary character, it works. Because crux of all is humanity and family. That said, in a family people usually move as a unit. Reconnecting with a sibling takes two. There is no way it will work if only one is constantly standing out. Additionally, let’s not forget what happened in Endgame. It is the perfect set up to pass the baton. You wouldn’t want it to be someone not at Black Widow’s level, would you?
Family and History
Where does Natasha come from? How does Black Widow end up in the Red Room? Many times, some of our personal answers come from our eager family members sharing about that time when you were that fabulous tree on a play. So, as the connections are established and re-kindled, fans do get Black Widow tidbits and a chance to get to know some of her mysterious past. Also, a great way to explore more of why this Avenger is the way she is. More importantly, this movie evidences how family (by blood or not) offers strong bonds and always stand behind us.
Humor
The humor is persistent and sprinkled throughout out. It is Florence Pugh who brings it home. Perhaps, there reason it works so well is the great chemistry of Johanssen. Again, do keep and eye out for David Harbour’s (The Red Guardian contributions. All in all, it is not the one-liner delivery Marvel usually offers. But, this time around, this is the measure that works.
Its “Marvelousness”
That means that the are plenty of incredible action sequences. As a matter of fact, it does take you back to that Bucky, IronMan, Captain America epic fight in Captain America: Civil War scene. The explosions and even a couple of scenes might take you back to Thor of Ragnarok or Guardians of the Galaxy places visited…. Add to that, an on-point story line that captivates. And, also manages to pull some heartstrings.
Humanity is the most powerful weapon
“I doubt the god from space has to take an Ibuprofen after a fight”. This quote sums it all up. But, to break it dow… No serum like Winter Soldier or Captain America. No special suit (albeit all the brains like IronMan). We are reminded in Black Widow that Natasha Romanoff is all around simply an amazingly gifted person. Yes, in the end, a human. The stage has been set for us to discover the mind and emotional beat of an Avenger that is a fantastic spy with incredible deadly skills. That said, it is only a scratch on the surface of there intricate story to tell.
Black Widow Blows It Out Of The Water: Overall Take
It was worth the wait!
Black Widow is a the movie we needed. Granted, it is late, it is here and it does not disappoint. Perhaps, with her complex family dynamic, vulnerability and work issues she becomes the relatable Avenger. The movie is a fantastic suspenseful thriller that delivers on action. Natasha holds the movie together and it gives it it’s personality. Undoubtedly, Black Widow underlines the powers that come from within and delivers a blockbuster production that is pure Marvel coolness. Dr. Strange fans will see some character traits similarities in facing demons and not blaming others. In any even, a must-watch for everyone.
….well, if you have children perhaps you should use our parental guide first and find out if Black Widow if Kid-friendly…..
