Is Disney’s Jungle Cruise Movie Kid Friendly? It is time for a sailing adventure! And, parents need to know if Jungle Cruise is appropriate for their children. As usual, we share with you our parent guide. Also, we review the key points to consider before you embark to ensure you have a bon voyage aboard this cinematographic Disney Cruise.
Is Disney’s Jungle Cruise Movie Kid-Friendly? A Parent Guide
Before you sail off on the Amazons, find out if Disney’s Jungle Cruise is Kid Friendly. The movie is rated PG 13 for or sequences of adventure violence. Cruella was also rated PG 13, and it was a bit much for kids under 10. But, is Jungle Cruise appropriate for children? Can kids under 13 watch it? I know this is a big questions since the movie is based on a ride at the Disney parks and the kids are ready to do both the ride and watch the movie. While inspired by the ride, it is a lot richer and action driven than the ride.
Action- Violence
There is violence at different degrees. Be it in a jokingly fashion, or a la Pirates of the Caribbean. Guns, swords, explosions and tranquilizer guns are all part of the action. Hand to hand fighting and gun violence are in the movie. Some parts of the action involve incredible CGI that can turn creatures into very scary for the smallest kids.
Language
Totally not on the heavy side. Some smart one liners like “shove it up your association” But no use of the F bomb and quite tame on the minor words if used at all. The biggest bad word is uttered in German.
Intense Moments
There are a few, and some are greatly amplified thanks to the incredible special effects and CGI. Some of the snakes and crawly animals featured can be an issue too. Jesse Plemons and Edgar Ramirez can be very scary villains. There is a particular scene where everyone knows what is to come, but when it happens everyone will jump of fright. So be ready.
Adult Topics
There’s romancing and kissing, but that stays firmly in the G rated side of things. Social drinking is seen as well as gambling. The suspense can be a bit much at times for the younger ones. A gay character hints about how he was shunned because of it.
Disney’s Jungle Cruise Parent Guide In a Nutshell
So, Is Disney’s Jungle Cruise Movie Kid Friendly? This movie will feel like a cross between Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones. In itself, that gives you a good Jungle Cruise parental guide.
Overall
The nostalgia is all there. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of ride Easter eggs to enjoy. Dwayne Johnson from Moana and Emily Blunt from Mary Poppins pair up on an adventure filled with fantasy and fun. Yes, there is romance. Just like the Disney ride, we get slap stick humor and jokes that will have half the crew laughing and the other half shaking their heads. That, is mixed in with some scary parts. At 2 hours and some, the movie can be slow in parts. But, the start and some vibrant scenes, will pull everyone in. It is a movie that does have great messages like friendship, love and hope. But is doesn’t dwell too much on them. The main focus of Disney’s Jungle Cruise is to take us on an entertainment adventure and it nails it. That, makes it a perfect family summer movie. The two protagonists are so much fun to watch, and I think the best audience for this film is 10 and up.
