Disney Encanto Parent Guide
I am beyond excited for this movie as you will see in my Encanto Movie Review. Encanto is rated PG for some peril and thematic elements. Honestly, I am surprised that this movie is not rated G. Still the rating might give some pause to some, so here are the details we always share on each movie. Here is what we believe you want to consider for Encanto:
Action – Violence
There are violent implications, but nothing is shown on screen. A machete is show and potential aggression is understood. Death and grief are part of the story but not on screen.
Language
None to report
Intense moments
Are not at all. There is a climatic moment in which the protagonist could be in peril, but none to great or too long to witness. Mirabel finds a man behind her house wall and there are falls from broken timber. A magical glowing door handle creates excitement and perhaps a little worry from the smallest in your group. Look out for the more sensitive ones when a house cracks too.
Adult Topics
Some wine is poured. Besides that there is no nudity or romance. Kids drink coffee. And, coffee is something we drink early on in Colombia. But, the movie calls out to say coffee is for grown ups. It is all about perspective.
Disney Encanto Parental Guide Additional Considerations
This movie is one for the entire family. Yes, it is very family friendly compared to other movies like Soul. Nevertheless, it does touch upon death and dangerous moments. However, it is not as emotional as Coco is, which also touches upon death of a family member.
The movie will fly by. As despite the magical aspect which might be confusing for the littles, it will not be that difficult. Especially, after watching Frozen. I do believe everyone will enjoy this movie. Even the toddlers will have a blast thanks to the catchy music and vibrant colors.
This movie will leave you upbeat, happy, and with a desire to dance and eat arepas. Don’t miss out the Disney Encanto Hit Songs.
