Back To The Outback Movie Parent Guide
Yes, Back to the Outback is a family friendly movie. But, what does its PG for rude suggestive material, and action rating really mean? Here are the points we like to share in our Back To The Outback Movie Parent Guide. To help you decide if this movie is right for your bunch.
Action- Violence
There is quite some action sequences in this movie. In particular. I was struck with the animal cruelty dialogue. No, there is none shown on screen. But tranquilizer darts so make an appearance as someone is being hunted. Knives and guns are also seen. Keep in mind that the violence is very cartoonish.
Language
It is pretty mild and there is potty humor.
Adult Topics
Someone suffers a panic attack, and mental health is touched upon. Frog tongues intertwine when they kiss. Also, there is reference to someone having a strong sex drive. Mating season is also talked about. As a matter of fact, a hairy spider says “I’ve never been so aroused in my life.” after meeting another spider. Finally, alcohol is seen in a couple of scenes.
Intense Moments
The characters will find themselves in scary and dangerous situations that can be intense for little ones. The animal lovers in your group might have a hard time with the hunt. Some might be triggered by talk of the death of a parent.
Final Considerations: Back To The Outback Movie Parent Guide Overall
I believe the entire family will fall in love with this dangerous critter bunch. Those 5-8 will truly love it. Get ready for plenty of laugh out loud moments for the littles!
Overall, the movie does a great job entertaining us. Additionally, it brings home a good number of great topics. For example, no one likes to be judged by their appearance and much less these dangerously cute critters! It is a great opportunity to talk to the kids about inclusion, friendship, and why not, curiosity for other cultures.
The movie itself is very vivid and the graphics are crips and incredibly well executed. Beyond that, the principle takeaways are
- A reminder to celebrate our differences
- Do not to judge a book by its cover. Case and point, an adorable Koala that turns out to be bratty and spoiled.
- Family is made out of those that love you for who you are, no matter what
