She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Press Junket was lit! I admit to be totally geeking out. While Hulk not my absolute fave Marvel super hero, he always strikes a chord and gets a special place in my fan girl heart. Now, bringing to live She-Hulk was something I never thought I would see. So, I could sit still while I have the pleasure of getting all the insights about this Disney + series premiering August 18th. Here is what was shared at the press junket
SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW PRESS JUNKET
This is the roaster of talent and creators that we spoke to:
- Tatiana Maslany “Jen Walters”
- Ginger Gonzaga “Nikki”
- Kat Coiro / Director (Episodes 1-4 & 8-9) / Executive Producer,
- Jessica Gao / Head Writer / Executive Producer
From Heels to Hulk
I couldn’t wait to hear what a woman would say about going from heels to Hulk. Yes, we wear many hats at any given time, but, you know……This is what Tatiana had to say about that. She did not disappoint. Tatiana says that
It was the duality of her life that drew Tatiana to the role:” “It was actually her conflict with it [being a Hulk] that I found most interesting, her resistance to it. She’s built this life for herself that she does not wanna let go of, she’s worked so hard to be a lawyer and she has to constantly prove herself. So she’s in this path and then when this thing happens to her, she has to contend with a whole other perception being placed on top of her and expectations societally of how she should be and who she should be. To navigate those two versions [and] the outside perception of her, that to me was super interesting.”
And so, this is how we have a super-hero that has a career.

Why Was Tatiana So Perfect For the Role
Jessica Gao gave us the insight. “There was nobody else. There was really no other discussion. From her previous work, we knew that she had a range and could embody so many elements of the human experience. And what’s so interesting and different about Jennifer is that she maintains her sense of self, and yet her sense of self is influenced by the way she presents when she changes. It’s a different way of walking through the world. And so it required a nuance of performance that really only Tatiana could give. The other wonderful thing about Tatiana is that she has such a good instinct for characters and for the story because they really go hand in hand,” Coiro says. “There have been so many times where’s she’s pinpointed something that didn’t quite feel right, just instinctively, but also intellectually. It was always right. It always forced us to work together to get it to a better place that was more real and that was smarter and better. And for that, I’m eternally grateful.”
Women Empowerment
A successful lawyer and a She-Hulk. That pretty much could sum it all up. But, there is so much more. Women will relate to fighting for the place in the room. There is a bar fight that will make that very clear, and brings to life women support and the importance of a women’s bathrooms everywhere. Jessica Gao gives her two cents about it:”Truly, the women’s bathroom in any club, bar, strip club, I don’t care, like any public women’s bathroom is the most safe, protective, and supportive environment. It’s the truth!” “Women are so often depicted as being catty and bitchy. That could possibly be true outside of the bar, but the moment you’re in the inner sanctum of the bathroom, women just wanna help each other. If you went into a bathroom and said, ‘This man was bad to me,’ you would have an entire of women ready to go and kill him.”
